Director of “Zak” film: Tehran short film festival has reached its maturity

According to the film reporter of Fars News Agency, Tehran Short Film Festival is considered as one of the most prestigious film events in the country and has been approved by the Oscar Academy.

Ali Khosravi, the author and director of the short fiction film “Zak” among the works that entered the 40th Tehran International Short Film Festival, said about his experience at this event: This is my fourth time as a filmmaker at the Tehran Short Film Festival. I am happy that this year I am participating in the 40th edition of the festival and a number that shows the maturity of the festival and a special number.

He said about the expectations of filmmakers from the festival, especially in his 40s: I believe that short cinema and culture in general should act critically in the sense of representing the truth of the Iranian people. Concepts such as family, self-confidence and national pride and other events that can lead us to progress in the economic field can all be shown in the short film.

Considering the media attack that exists in the virtual space and the media of the world against the people of Iran, the Tehran Short Film Festival in its 40th edition can act as a powerful media in the national and international arena. My expectation from the festival is to emphasize and highlight concepts that may have been weakened in society. It is our responsibility to reflect these issues in our own way and I hope that there will be such a representation in this year’s works.

Khosravi said about the concerns raised in the movie “Zak”: First of all, I tried to make “Zak” a story-telling film and raise its issue in the context of a drama and an interesting story. I also borrowed from the so-called bank and my personal savings and tried to present it in the form of a story. The issue of sacrifice and preservation of the family foundation by an Iranian woman who is from the working class and is in a difficult situation, is very important in the movie “Zak”. Of course, I prefer the audience to see the film at the festival and not reveal the story, but this film was taken from watching a documentary a few years ago. A documentary in which the workers raised their concerns and I am happy that I was able to turn this idea into a film with the help of the Iranian Youth Cinema Association and Royad Club.

He continued: In my opinion, the issue of family and humanity is universal and universal, and fortunately, I received good feedback about this work in the private screenings of the film, and I am happy that I will see the reactions of the audience again at the festival, and this film will be in the most prestigious event. Iranian cinema can be seen.

The 40th Tehran International Short Film Festival under the direction of Mehdi Azarpandar will be held from October 27 to November 2, 1402.
