This award was given a few decades ago to Bahman Ghobadi’s exotic film: A Time for Horse Drunkenness, “because of the pathetic but accurate picture of the problems that humans and horses have in common.”

And today’s award to the “Leila Brothers” for “an accurate picture of a patriarchal society” is in line with the same paternalistic attitude. Do not be proud of it and do not ignorantly present it to the grieving people of Abadan. Do not accept the humiliation of the burden of begging. Make your film for the audience here, not there with all its prizes. No serious filmmaker makes a film award.
