Do not accept Frost’s harsh criticism of “Leila Brothers” / humiliation of begging

According to Fars News Agency’s cinema correspondent, Massoud Frost, a well-known cinema critic, wrote in his latest Instagram post, considering the recent fringes of the Cannes Film Festival:
Friends, now, now, not only in Cannes, but also in Venice, Berlin, the Oscars, etc., there is no news or work of art for decades. After all, it is the concept of bourgeoisie and bourgeois politicization. In the case of non-European and American films, the banner of exoticism is still flying, and the inhumanly depraved films with demagogic appearances are serious defenders of capitalism (remember the noise) and, of course, are rewarded. And red carpet. They never understand Iranian film better than your people.
And you do not become “universal” overnight. So become a national and always remain a national, so that you may not later boast of the worthless prize of the “Pfeiffer” critics in the hands of the neoliberal right. This award was given a few decades ago to Bahman Ghobadi’s exotic film: A Time for Horse Drunkenness, “because of the pathetic but accurate picture of the problems that humans and horses have in common.”
And today’s award to the “Leila Brothers” for “an accurate picture of a patriarchal society” is in line with the same paternalistic attitude. Do not be proud of it and do not ignorantly present it to the grieving people of Abadan. Do not accept the humiliation of the burden of begging. Make your film for the audience here, not there with all its prizes. No serious filmmaker makes a film award.
