Do not let the glass workshops shut down

However, this art has unfortunately been neglected and is not being given the attention it deserves, and artists, masters, and craft activists are facing many problems.

With the spread of Corona, the problems of this dear group have increased and now handicraft activists are struggling with problems such as the high cost of raw materials, increasing energy carriers, declining production, non-sales and so on.

Meanwhile, glass workshops and glass and crystal manufacturers have faced another problem in addition to the problems caused by the outbreak of corona for handicraft artists, and that is the increase in the price of gas consumed by the workshops.

Unfortunately, the gas consumption of glass workshops and the production of glass and glass have experienced an unprecedented increase in the last two years, so that the gas bills of the workshops have quadrupled since last year.

There are about 150 glassmaking workshops in Tehran province, most of which are located in areas such as Rey, Qarchak and Varamin. An average of 15 people work directly and indirectly in each workshop, but the existence of several problems, including astronomical gas receipts, has caused the incomes and expenses of the glass workshops to be inconsistent, and the kilns of the workshops have been turned off one after another.

In the south of Tehran province, there are some glass and glass production workshops that used to export to 17 European countries and in the same workshop employed at least 75 workers and had five active furnaces. The workshop has been stopped in European countries, the number of kilns has been reduced to one, and currently only 30 workers and craftsmen are working in this workshop.

While the same workshop or similar workshops had become a destination for domestic and foreign tourists to visit, but these days, unfortunately, it has flourished and silence, unemployment and downsizing are sitting on the faces of the workshops.

These problems show that it is necessary to pay attention to the issues related to glass and glass production workshops in different parts of the country, including Tehran province, which is even more important than dinner because the livelihood of artists, workers and masters in this field is in danger.
