During his visit to the United States, the Pakistani Foreign Minister defended Islamabad-Moscow relations

“After meeting with his American counterpart and attending the World Food Security Summit in New York during a press conference at the United Nations,” Bilawal Bhutto Zardari “stressed Islamabad’s neutral position on the Russia-Ukraine issue, IRNA reported on Friday from Pakistani sources.
Defending the former Pakistani prime minister’s official visit to Russia in late February, he said: “It was not against Ukraine.”
“It is not fair for us to be punished for interacting with others,” said the Pakistani foreign minister, who defended the policy of engagement with Russia in the United States.
“Pakistan will not take the side of any aggressor or aggressor, peace and friendship are our priority and we only consider peace important,” he said.
The visit of the then Prime Minister of Pakistan to Russia, despite the explicit opposition of the United States, Pakistan’s continued absence from anti-Russian meetings in international forums, including the United Nations, and the significant increase in bilateral defense and military cooperation are examples of the two countries’ efforts to develop these relations.
Islamabad’s engagement with Moscow has always angered the United States and its European allies.
