Early review of the MacBook Air M2, before the official release

Some retailers and hardware activists have been able to access and review the MacBook Air M2 before its official launch. The new generation of MacBook Air was introduced at WWDC 2022 and its design has been completely changed compared to the previous generation. Unfortunately, the new generation of Apple’s best-selling laptop is not “perfect” as the reviews say, and has issues such as overheating and slow SSD speeds.

New generation MacBook Air, praised by reviewers

Of course, the MacBook Air M2 has been praised by reviewers for its excellent charging. In its review, TechCrunch says:

The redesigned body provides more space for the battery along with a thinner motherboard. MacBook Air battery has been upgraded from 49.9 watt hours to 52.6 watt hours. But in general, the charging of this device is as announced. I was able to use the device for a little over 17 hours while watching movies and streaming content on the Apple TV with brightness at 50 and volume on. This amount of charging is enough for any flight. In addition to the color of the MagSafe cable, Apple has done another interesting thing about the charger adapter. Standard model [مک بوک ایر] Buy with an 8-core GPU and get a 30W charger adapter.

In the review of the MacBook Air M2, the Engadget site pointed out that despite the fact that the MacBook chassis is made of solid aluminum, the weight of this device is very light. Considering the extraordinary charging capacity of this device and the high processing power of the Apple M2 processor, this site considers this device an ideal product for most users:

When I first got hold of the MacBook Air, it felt more like an iPad with a keyboard than a laptop. Interestingly, the MacBook is lighter and more portable than the 12.9-inch iPad Pro, which weighs nearly 3 pounds (1.4 kg) with the keyboard. The iPad Pro has always been a standard for portable computers ahead of its time, but the iPad Pro weighs about the same as a 13-inch MacBook Pro. Once again, the winner is Air.

The new “Air” also has shortcomings

The above two reviews mostly point to the strengths of the MacBook Air M2. But the review of The Verge reports that the MacBook Air M2 has the same flaws as the MacBook Pro M2; Defects such as overheating of the device under high load and the occurrence of the thermal bottleneck phenomenon as a result. Be that as it may, the new generation MacBook Air does not have a cooling fan like its predecessor and is cooled by a large heatsink. The second drawback of this device is the low speed of its SSD. The Verge review summarizes the new MacBook Air this way:

Thanks to the increased processing power of the M2 processor, the new generation MacBook Air and MacBook Pro 13 are incredibly fast devices, even compared to other Mac laptops with M1 processors. These devices use a new series of NAND chips that can support a 256GB configuration with just one NAND chip. Although the benchmarks show the read and write speeds of the 256GB models to be lower than the previous generation, the performance of these devices equipped with the M2 processor is very fast in real-world scenarios.
