Yesterday, after the widespread criticism of the “Rahim Ken” TV series, Majid Mollai, the producer of the series, released a video in response to the criticisms. Fars: First of all, what do you think about Majid Moulai’s words regarding these issues?

Rastgar: Throughout this three-minute video, Mr. Moulai keeps repeating that I don’t know, I don’t know, and I don’t know, but in another part of his speech, he declares a lot of knowledge and believes that he even knows behind the scenes against “Release Me”, in the first stage. In my opinion, they should clarify their duties with themselves, which is that they are supposed to talk about things in a position of knowledge or declare that they do not know.

On the other hand, I have to say that I did not start criticizing various cinema or television works from “Release Me” and I have been writing as a film critic for 14 years. Many of the friends who took a stand were critics, and it is disgusting that Mr. Moulai questioned the work and skills of the critics who opposed Rahim Ken.

Fars: From what point of view is “Release Me” interesting for you?

Rastegar: I think this series is important from two points of view, the first is in terms of its production form, which I don’t think is a progressive series and has not done anything new. It is a collection with a slow and boring beat, with weak characters and promoting the lifestyle of a certain class before the revolution.

The second view is also in the sense that it presents a strange form of immoral content, they hold a cup in one hand and a cigarette in the other hand. Drinking alcohol and smoking is a constant presence throughout the series, and the characterization of cigarettes and alcohol is more dramatic than the characterization of normal roles in the series. Even the pseudo-hero of the story, Hatem Naib Sarkhi, who plays the role of Tanabandeh, is not an exception to this rule, when you introduce these verbs into the series as a general lifestyle and flaunt it many times by different characters in the story, this is no longer the case. It looks more than a normal scene in a movie; I don’t know, maybe this is normal from the point of view of the creators of the series, but this amount of immoral behavior is definitely not acceptable from the point of view of our culture and civilization and the Iranian society.

Fars: I don’t think any criticism has been raised against Majid Moulayi personally, even though he considers himself the owner of 13 other films that have been broadcasted on TV.

Rostgar: I myself have never criticized Mr. Moulay personally, I did not mention his name either in tweets or in “Salam Tehran” on Panj channel, I have no enmity with him at all, he is on the radio, that is, in the same institution that he is criticizing today. , has made many works and many opportunities have been given to Mr. Moulai by television, especially the third channel of Sima, especially during the era of Mr. Asghar Pourmohammadi, so that he can be promoted as a filmmaker, most of his experience is in television, and first of all, we should tell them that they should not pose for the film. They should take actors who were born and started working in the home television network from the beginning, we have no problem with their continued activity and we are not in a position to make a decision for them, and God willing, they will return to the same style of serialization in TV and Radio. And their field of work has nothing to do with our work that critics want to take their place.

Moulai is a filmmaker who started his career in radio and television and has sometimes had acceptable works, but these statements can add “author’s criticism” to the set of criticisms raised in relation to “Rahim Ken”, but before that We only focused on authorship criticism; The position of the audience, the structure and content of the work, as well as the issues related to cultural management and the permission to publish and advertise the series, which, at his insistence, it seems we have to go to the “author’s criticism” from now on.

Fars: Let’s talk about the series, the producer said in a recent video: “This series is the 14th series that I produced as a producer, and most of these series have been broadcast on TV and have been widely accepted by the audience. We are not strange beings who have special genius or that we claim that we do not make mistakes, that humans are allowed to make mistakes and may make mistakes. “Release Me” series is no exception to this. When we produce a fiction product for nearly a thousand minutes, we may have made a mistake somewhere, and we must accept this mistake.”; Was the mistake only minute?

Rastegar: “Rahim Ken” is a completely free series, it does not follow any rules either in terms of content or structure, but the other important thing about it is the permission that should have been received from Satra but it was broadcast without it, we are with any series that If it does not have a license from Satra, we are against it, because obtaining a license is the legal way to broadcast the film on the home network, but if “Release Me” had obtained a license from Satra, we would still have opposed its content and we would have entered into a conversation with Satra about why such a series with this The content is licensed; however, Satra never gives permission to broadcast such content.

Fars: Maybe that’s why the actors of the series didn’t try to get permission from Satra.

Rastegar: If they had entered “Release Me” into the licensing process, I don’t think that Satra would have objected to the original series and its production, and would probably have made amendments to delete or change some scenes, amendments that would have caused little damage to the story. By the way, it was in favor of the original of the series because it did not enter these margins and “Release Me” was seen without borders like many other productions in this field.
However, maybe the creators of the series themselves are interested in these margins and have made it a reason for their work to be seen more.

Fars: The producer of “Rahim Ken” also considers the criticism of the “Rahim Ken” series to be an attack and believes that some people have judged the series based on a photo or dialogue without seeing it. What is your opinion in this regard? ?

Rostgar: I have a habit of several years that according to my job, I watch all the TV shows on the same day they are released. I also know many critics who watch all these works and give their expert opinion. No one has criticized it without seeing the series. But maybe the producer is upset about something else.
Perhaps he is upset that the criticisms raised have caused environmental advertisements and billboards in the city of Tehran, which were collected by the Ministry of Guidance and Tehran Municipality, and his rents could not prevent this from happening.

In his words, he mentioned the “Shadow Group”, I did not intend to mention these words, but when talking about the Shadow Group, I must say that the Shadow Group are the supporters and supporters of your rents, that you can broadcast your series like this without permission and nobody It won’t stop you and you can enjoy special environmental advertisements in the best way.

“Release Me” should have followed the specific and legal path that is envisioned for all works, whether in production, broadcast, or in the screening of city advertisements, which did not happen from the beginning.

Fars: Do you consider the path of “Release Me” from the beginning to the broadcast to be abnormal and illegal?

Rostgar: The series is broadcast illegally and without permission. We don’t allow a series to bypass the path that all their colleagues normally take and take an artistic activity from an illegal path.all filmmakers follow the legal path and even a series like “Lionskin” except for some special cases, in general went according to the law and by receiving permission from the relevant institutions, and regardless of the serious cinematic criticisms I have of this series, but in The whole was very successful for its creators and this means that Satra does not stop the success of the works.

Fars: Majid Moulai considered the criticism of “Leave me” to be organized and said that this is an attack against this series by non-critics. What is your opinion about this?

Rostgar: There is no organization in these opinions, but sometimes, by repeating a correct word by a few critics, the attention of the rest of the people will be drawn to that issue and a nationwide criticism will be formed against that issue, the same thing happened in this case. ; A criticism has been raised by people like me, and critics and ordinary people have drawn their attention to it, those who wrote are critics, and some ordinary people have expressed their views against this series, which is their natural right as a citizen.

They are also citizens of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and as they participate in the elections, they can freely comment on the works of the home television network and comment on those works, and by the way, respecting the moral rights of the audience is very important in this regard. They have a single-voice and fascist society that allows him to produce, publish and promote his series without a license; We are ashamed, Mr. Moulai, that Iran’s society is not fascist and does not remain indifferent to artistic rent-seekers.

Of course, in this case, the criticisms only reached the Ministry of Guidance and Tehran Municipality and caused the collection of urban advertisements for this series, but “Release Me” is still being broadcast and no one has been able to stop it from being broadcast.

Fars: The producer of “Rahim Ken” said: “What does the series “Rahim Ken” pay back? I do not know. Is it the difference between radio and television, the Ministry of Guidance and the platforms in the way of managing and refining the works that attacks “Rahaim Ken”? I do not know. Is the competition between radio and television and private platforms that grow an industry that today’s audience turns to local products instead of using satellites and foreign networks and has fun with them? Does this competition cause these motivations? I do not know.” Do these issues really exist and do they have anything to do with this series?

Rostgar: There are several points to be made in this case, first of all, I don’t think there is any dispute between the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance and the Broadcasting Organization and Satra regarding this series, even in my opinion the Minister of Guidance and the head of the Broadcasting Organization are also be of the same opinion. Is there a fundamental difference? I don’t know, but what does this have to do with Mr. Moulai and his work? They should talk about their work, they should express their opinion about the content of “Release Me”, doesn’t this series have immoral content? Didn’t the rent cause this series to be aired without permission from Filmo? Is he trying to draw attention to his series with illegal activities?

These are all the questions that Mr. Majid Moulai must answer, and if he talks about all of these, he will not have time to comment on the differences between the various institutions of the system. Cultural institutions give a theoretical system. The Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance and Radio and Television are both diligently trying to perform their legal duties efficiently regardless of the fringes of the likes of Mr. Majid Moulai, and the likes of these filmmakers will not be able to divide the country’s cultural decision-makers.

I don’t think it will help them to drag their opinions to other side than the series, the producer should be responsible for his series; I don’t know who deluded them and convinced them that an atmosphere was created against their series, but they should be told: Mr. Moulai, don’t sacrifice yourself to the offending platform of Filmo and the business goals of its owner brothers, it’s a shame for you to sacrifice your reputation to Filmo and its financial goals.

Fars: Moulai said at the end: “Are they going to tell us that you are out of this group and another group will come?” I don’t know, but if there is a third goal, that’s great. In the words of Rumi, if you are better, you should give up.

Rastegar: No one is going to take his place, and apart from this series, Majid Mollai also has good works that have been shown on radio and television, and he has reached his current position with these works, and I emphasize that we wish him more and more success.
