Electricity consumption in Iran is 2.5 times the world average



According to IRNA, Ali Asadi said on Sunday at a meeting on energy management in Ilam province: Iran is ranked first in the Middle East and 14th in the world in terms of electricity network, but unfortunately our country’s electricity consumption is more than 2.5 times the world and 2 times Consumption of area.

He added: “If we have rain, we can forecast the production of 480 MW of electricity and one of the largest hydropower plants in the country will be activated.”

The CEO of the West Regional Electricity Company emphasized: “Unfortunately, this large power plant does not currently generate electricity due to the lack of water behind the dam.”

Asadi reminded: Currently, the power plants of Ilam Petrochemical and Gas Industrial Complexes are active in the province and help generate electricity in the province.

He added: the gas company has a capacity of 60 megawatts of electricity generation that can inject up to 24 megawatts of electricity into the province network.

He expressed hope that with proper energy planning and management, the conditions of the power outage crisis in the summer of this year can be overcome.
