According to Mehr news agency, quoted by Reuters, “James Cleverley”, the British Foreign Minister, made anti-Iranian claims in a joint press conference with his American counterpart in Washington.
Referring to the recent punishment of a spy in Iran, the British Foreign Minister claimed: “London will not limit itself to the response it has already announced against Iran.”
However, the British Foreign Minister refused to give more details about the actions and response that London may give to Iran.
In the same press conference, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken made allegations against Iran and claimed that Washington was horrified by Iran’s execution of Alireza Akbari.
It should be noted that Alireza Akbari was arrested some time ago for espionage against the country. Accordingly, after filing a court case against the accused and issuing an indictment, the case was referred to the court and hearings were held in the presence of the accused’s lawyer, and based on the valid documents in the case, this person was sentenced to death for the crime of espionage for England.
Following the defendant’s protest and his appeal, the case was re-examined in the Supreme Court, and while rejecting the appeal, the Supreme Court upheld the preliminary indictment and Akbari’s death sentence.
In this context, the Ministry of Information emphasized by publishing a notice that Akbari was one of the most important agents of the British spy service, who collected important information about the country and provided it to this service in a fully informed and targeted manner.
