“Europe” cinema was registered

European cinema in the Baharestan neighborhood of Tehran was registered in the list of national works. This cinema caught fire in 1390 and then was closed forever.

Theater News Base: Ali Darabi, Deputy Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts, announced the registration of the “European Passage and Cinema” as a cultural-historical work to the Governor of Tehran. This cinema was registered in the list of historical-cultural valuable works on the 3rd of Azar 1400, while its doors were closed forever after a fire about 10 years ago, and in September 1400, it was dissolved with the approval of the cinema organization.

The European Cinema Building is located in the central part of Tehran, Jomhouri St., not far from Zahir Al-Islam St., and was one of the oldest cinemas in Tehran. European cinema was opened in Tehran in 1347 with the screening of the film “Samarkand-Tehran Golden Road”. Europe at that time had 1,400 seats, three balconies and two 70 mm screens.

The national registration of this work emphasizes that European cinema is under the protection and supervision of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts in accordance with the law, and any encroachment, development, restoration or reconstruction of the work will be possible only with the approval and supervision of this ministry. .

The registration of these works is taking place while the fire threatens their lives and is not a deterrent to destruction. A fire in 1998 destroyed buildings around Hassanabad Square. The occurrence of these incidents requires the participation of municipalities, all organizations and ministries to protect national monuments, especially since most of the buildings being registered or registered in the list of national monuments have received safety warning alerts and are in danger.
