Examining the mental concern of all boys; Military challenges in “Zero-One”

According to Fars News Agency’s Art and Media Group, the documentary “Zero-Yek” is the latest production of Arman Art of the Revolution Institute, directed by Mehdi Ansari and produced by Seyed Mehdi Dezfuli, which discusses and investigates the challenges of the military elite in knowledge-based companies.
This documentary work, which was introduced in the critique section of the discourse as a candidate for winning the title of the 13th Ammar People’s Film Festival in the documentary competition section, deals with the challenge of military service for elites who are working in basic knowledge companies, but due to being forced to do military service in Outside of knowledge-based companies, both their lives are challenged and knowledge-based companies face serious and sometimes acute challenges due to being deprived of a special force.
Objective display of military challenges
Regarding the idea of producing this documentary, Mehdi Ansari, the director of the “Zero-One” documentary, said: “The military issue has always been an issue.” Military service is one of the concerns that has caused boys to continuously prolong their education. For this reason, there are many people who have the issue of military service in the corner of their minds and always carry the stress and worry of it with them. Especially when the topic of suicide and immigration came up, it made it more serious for me to talk to a group of friends and make a documentary about it to show the challenges of this field objectively.
Military service is one of the concerns that has caused boys to continuously prolong their education
Ansari continued: When we started making this documentary, there was another team that wanted to make something about soldiers and examine the issue of conscription from a different angle. For this reason, there was a problem that how should we deal with the issue of military service and make demands, and from what angle can we look at this issue? Many people have talked about this. Some believed that the discussion of the military should be removed altogether and we should no longer have such a thing as compulsory military service.
Demanding from government institutions has subtleties
The director of the documentary “Zero-Yek” added: On the other hand, the decision-maker is the responsibility of the armed forces, and certainly there are subtleties in making demands from government institutions, and you cannot do something without thinking and raising a sensitive issue. For this reason, if you want to make a right claim that causes an incident, you must pay more attention to the issue. Spending headlines and making controversial documentaries does not bring anything positive. For this reason, we put our hands on a subject that the armed forces themselves have carried out and achieved results.
Of course, there are subtleties in making demands from government and government institutions, and you cannot do something without thinking and raising a sensitive issue.
He pointed out: In this documentary, we dealt with military problems and provided solutions for them. In fact, our point is that the armed forces have created a method for a part of the society that has had positive feedback. Now is the time to make this method more widespread.
What was the main concern of making a documentary for soldiers?
Seyed Mehdi Dezfuli, the producer of the documentary “Zero-Yik” also stated about why this work deals with the military category from this angle: According to the statistics, we have 9400 knowledge-based companies, which until about one or two years ago, was a statistic that was used for admission. They used to have 500 soldiers, but now this number has reached 1500, and in fact, less than one sixth of the knowledge-based companies have a quota to recruit soldiers. Let’s say that some of these companies are so large and numerous that maybe 40-50 soldiers’ quota is not enough for them, companies like Digikala and… This statistic is only for companies that operate on a smaller scale.
He added: As I gave an example, companies like Digikala, which has a large number of employees, and their key personnel should remain in the positions that are important to them, and if they go to the military, the company’s work process will be disrupted, which created the concern that work should be produced. That these knowledge-based companies can have their own troops as soldiers in their company so that they can serve there and the company will not be harmed. In this situation, the system can use that soldier with better efficiency. This was our main concern for making the documentary.
“Zero-One” next year on TV
Dezfuli also mentioned about the possible time of the public screening of this documentary: this documentary will be unveiled in Sharif University in the next few days, and after the screening of the documentary, it will begin in various universities in Tehran, and their peak will be on Student’s Day. It will be available on platforms for public access from around December 20, and finally, I hope that this documentary can be broadcast on TV next year.
Military service is the mental concern of all boys in Iran
The producer of the “Zero-One” documentary continued: The main audience of this documentary is both the armed forces and people who are somehow involved with the military issue. In the next layer, the audience becomes more general. However, military service is the concern of all boys in Iran who are subject to military service. In fact, our target audience is the entire community of boys, one of their five main concerns is compulsory military service.
He added: These are the things that we can do to raise the concern of the youth and especially the elites, and I hope that it will achieve good and tangible results, and finally the issue of the elites’ military service in knowledge-based companies will be resolved and reach an acceptable number of quotas.
