Explanations of the Minister of Communications about Instagram and WhatsApp being filtered and providing satellite internet in Iran

On the sidelines of the government board meeting, the Minister of Communications explained about the filtering of Instagram and WhatsApp, as well as the provision of satellite internet in Iran.

Issa Zarepour, the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, recently mentioned the rumor of Instagram and WhatsApp filtering on the sidelines of the government board meeting and among the journalists, and said that the Supreme Council of Cyberspace has not held a meeting in this period regarding Instagram or other networks. social issues to be decided.

Filtering Instagram and WhatsApp depends on the conditions

Announcing that the ministry is not a decision-maker in the field of filtering, the Minister of Communications said that some restrictions are imposed according to the current conditions of the country and are at the discretion of the competent authorities in the country, and the authority that issued the order for these restrictions can remove them.

Zarepour also said about the fate of internal messengers and social networks, the Ministry of Communications is working day and night to provide the hardware infrastructure needed to increase the quality and speed of internal platforms.

Necessity of acceptance of Iran’s laws by companies providing satellite internet

The Minister of Communications also stated about the activation of satellite Internet access in Iran, if the operators providing satellite Internet services comply with the territorial rules of the Islamic Republic of Iran, we will welcome their activities.
