Extension of sanctions against 17 natural and legal persons in connection with chemical weapons – Mehr News Agency | Iran and world’s news

The Council of Europe has announced Brussels’ decision to extend restrictive measures related to the spread of chemical weapons for another year, until October 16, 2022, which is said to be suspected of involvement in the spread of the chemical weapons. All types of weapons, including two Russian nationals previously subject to sanctions against Brussels, will continue to be subject to sanctions until further notice.

The council said in a statement issued today: “The council today decided to extend restrictive measures against the proliferation and use of chemical weapons for another year until October 16, 2022.” The current sanctions regime was first introduced in 2018 to target individuals and legal entities directly responsible for the development and use of chemicals.

The statement also noted that these restrictive measures have already affected 15 people and two institutions. These individuals are said to have been linked to the use of chemical weapons in Syria and Salisbury.
