Fahraj, an irreplaceable surprise in the south of Kerman


Fahraj is a city in the southern part of Kerman, whose reputation for palm trees, castles and desert forests has made it an irreplaceable wonder. Fahraj city is one of the cities of Kerman province and is located in the southeast of this province. Fahraj city has four famous cities and was very important during the Seljuk period, so that the Silk Road passed through it and reached all over the world. The climate of this city is hot and dry in summer and cold and dry in winter. The temperature in summer sometimes reaches 50 degrees, but this climate has made Fahraj one of the poles of producing high quality dates. Citrus is another agricultural product of this region.

One of the rarest surviving towers from the Seljuk period is Mill Ghavardi with registration number 143, which is located on the Bam-Zahedan road, 30 km from Fahraj (to guide caravans). Leads up. This forest is one of the few melon forests whose bed is covered with quicksand. This forest has a lot of fans for motorcycling competitions among the youth of this region.

Fahraj earthen castle

This castle overlooks the houses of Fahraj city and the road, is built on a thick ridge of mud that is surrounded by a moat. This work belongs to the Islamic period and it has a lot of military fortifications, four towers around it, which was used to protect the castle. This castle was very populated in the Safavid period.

Moaz Tower Castle

This castle was built in the late Islamic centuries and after Safavid and was a village castle. After the land reforms in 1342, the castle of Moaz Fahraj tower became uninhabited and since then it has become an abandoned building. The castle of Moaz tower has six towers and the outer parts related to the castle also had groves. There is also a two-story reservoir in the middle of the castle of Mu’adh Tower, where the inhabitants of the castle stored aqueduct water from outside the tower of Mu’adh in the center of the castle.

Sand hills

After the melon forests and in the northern part of Afraz (fault), there are large and high sand dunes of Moaz tower, which is a place of recreation for the people of the region throughout the year. There are countless cedar trees on the slopes of these hills. Wheat and barley are cultivated in these slopes. On the eastern slope of these hills there are prosperous groves. These hills have a lot of fans for motorcycle racing, especially on rainy days, so that in winter, a large number of enthusiasts spend their day in this area with their families happily. These hills are considered as the most important tourist spots of Moaz Tower during Nowruz.

Napka (natural pots)

The presence of sand in the bed of the melon forests of Moaz Tower has made these forests unique. The sand accumulates on top of each other and creates large mounds around and under some of the yarns and melons, a kind of vase in the form of a sand mound with a plant on top of it, which creates a beautiful and unique view.

Stone Castle

This castle is built on a high rock hill. Qaleh Sang is located 3 km northeast of Fahraj and is 200 years old.
