Fajr Festival and the repetitive story of unreleased films

Fars News Agency – Cinema Group: The Fajr Cinema Organization and Film Festival claim that during their tenure, they adhere to the three principles of legalism, standardization and justice-oriented in order to strive for the growth, promotion and advancement of Iranian heavyweight cinema. This year, when the holding of this cinematic event has reached its 40th period, the mechanism of this period is no exception to the mentioned rules, and the festival secretary and the selection committee have taken care to observe the rules and principles of the festival and have emphasized on it.
In order to respect and emphasize the rule of law in the 40th Fajr Film Festival, all the works sent to the secretariat of this cinematic event have been carefully reviewed by the selection committee and it is said that pressure and order from a faction or organization did not cause a special film to be screened at the festival. Or cause another effect of competition to remain open in this important cinematic event. It seems that this year, the film of Ouj Media Arts Organization has been excluded from the competition at the festival.
In fact, the responsibility for selecting the works of this period lies entirely with the members of the selection committee, including Behrouz Afkhami, Mohammad Hossein Niroumand, Hossein Zandbaf, Pouran Derakhshandeh, Ismail Baniardalan, and Esfandiar Shahidi. It is in their choices. In this regard, the films of many organizations, institutions and organizations that expected to participate in the Fajr Film Festival, did not receive the necessary votes by the selection committee and did not participate in this cinematic competition.
The organizers of the festival claim that the standardization in this period of the festival has been observed correctly and with emphasis on the rules of the cinema organization, and no film entered the competition merely in the name of the director, producer, etc. Therefore, if the works of Hatamikia, Darabi and Hazrati’s children are present in the festival, it is because their works are standard, not the names of their fathers. By showing these works at the Fajr Film Festival, we can better judge the accuracy of this point.
* Adhere to the rules, even at the cost of notoriety
Adherence to the rules of the festival is such that, unlike some periods of the festival, the film, which has already been reviewed, was no longer allowed to appear, and we saw an example of this in the decision about the “killer and savage”. Meanwhile, the members of the selection committee of the 40th Fajr Film Festival, with an emphasis on justice and respect for the intellectual rights of all films, announced their list of selected works, which means that when selecting works, the work of all filmmaking groups is examined professionally. The background or name of the director has no effect on the selection of works
As it is clear from the list of names, and there are many works by the first film directors that will compete alongside the experienced filmmakers in this period, and unwritten rules have not been implemented to limit the number of first film directors in the festival. Such a process works in the direction of motivation and justice, and helps each work to be present in the festival due to its content and quality, and in this way, the rights of films and filmmakers are not lost.
