Farimah Farjami; An actor who liked to have his coffee in Rome

According to the cinema and theater correspondent of Fars news agency, since years ago, self-destruction was seen more among artists and writers than in other intellectual fields of the country. This is why many people in the field of art and literature commit immediate suicide or gradual suicide with alcohol and opioid addiction. They say that this text is boring. Regarding the reasons for this, fundamental research should be done in psychology and sociology, etc. in order to understand the reasons for this damage.

Now, apart from radical research in the direction of pathology, two approaches can be adopted in dealing with these events from the news side:

First: silence and only telling the news about the process of the incident and its passing.

Two: Speaking and writing about what happened and retelling the bitter and difficult truth in the hope that even one person will not be caught in this destructive path and will choose the right path. Mohammad Taghi Fahim has discussed the death of Ravanshad Farjami from this point of view:

Cinema: attractive but cruel

Cinema is a cruel phenomenon. This fact has been emphasized since ancient times. It is easy and restrained, as well as bitter and sweet. The pleasure of cinema cannot be compared with any other kind. It is its pleasurable taste that takes its toll. Two sides of its coin are fame and expertise. Fame tickles everyone. That is why acting is the most popular career in cinema. Taking cinema for granted is the most dangerous way to deal with it. At least the situation that has arisen around underestimating cinema is falling into the abyss of vulgarity, and in trends such as directing, it leads to the violation of the rights of the audience and ultimately the destruction of cinema. So cinema is a difficult job (and its cruelty comes from this difficulty) if it is compared to the activity of miners.

Farjami and cinema

A review of the interviews of “Farimah Farjami” that have been published in various media after his death, while exposing the terrible realities of the margins of cinema, is extremely instructive for every student and cinema lover. Khodabiamarz Farjami was one of the idealistic actors of the intellectual tendency of cinema. He says: “Farimah liked to have coffee in Rome. Autumn walks next to age. In the foggy air of London, see old friends, but in Tehran there were things that kept me.”

Farjami’s difference with many other veterans was in his understanding of “Tehran things” which he finally kept. Walking along the river Seine and the foggy air of London has been the dominant desire of intellectuals of various fields throughout contemporary history. Distracting from here and dissociating from the alien environment of the West has been the distinction of intellectuals from each other. As Farjami chose “here” and devoted himself to projects that were included in the circle of claimants, but he was left out more and more. He had no middle ground with low and superficial productions, he did not enter into an understanding with the owners of these works, but he also saw nothing but unkindness in his side, that’s why he considered acting as a “strange thing”; Not knowing that acting is a job, but these actors are strange; To the extent that they forget the factor of their growth and development. In fact, Farjami was hit in the same area. Of course, death is a right and no one has the life of Noah. The deceased also did not die young, but she had been sick and housebound for years. The situation that happened to an actor who chose the role and became famous for a while, being forgotten is no different from physical death.

Cinema is a very slippery platform. This is not the environment to let go of “self”. Self-improvement should be done here. You should not surrender yourself to the existing space for a moment. There is no prophet here, but the devil is lurking as you wish. If we think that constant exercise and body in shape is enough, we have taken the first step to lose. But mental exercise and increasing the level of social knowledge are part of the basic necessities, as well as raising the level of understanding of the nature of art, along with lowering the wick of expectations from others, can facilitate moving on the winding path of cinema. In short, here, if someone brings less, he will at least cause “self-destruction”, so he must build himself up to infinity, otherwise he will bend before the usual winds. Cinema, indebted to modern capitalism, and especially to Western culture, is constantly victimized. The victims of thoughtfulness and permissive art have a significant statistic, that is why Farjam Farjami ends up regretting his career as an actor and after a lifetime of creating important roles, he shouts that “I wish I had never become an actor” and finally he is sad for the protestors of art. He shoots at intellectual claimants and cinema businessmen: “Gesture is useless, one should be an artist”.

last word

Preserving the sanctity of the deceased is an important part of our Iranian-Islamic culture, but this should not be the reason for playing with words and whitewashing prohibited behaviors in our religion and culture. Some are trying to blindly follow everything that is western. For some time, the Western media and their companions here have been trying to make suicide look normal and call it “self-inflicted death” or call self-destruction with alcohol and opioids a “lifestyle” choice. Westernized media flow has emerged after distorting all aspects of our Iranian-Islamic life, and we must be very careful about it.
