Fawad Hossein: Our relations with Iran are strong



According to IRNA’s Sunday report, Fawad Hossein, in an interview with the Bahraini newspaper Al-Watan, in response to the question of how relations between Iraq and Iran can affect the nature of relations with Bahrain and other Arab countries of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council, said: relations We have a strong neighbor with Iran. We are working to restore relations between Iran and the Arab countries of the Persian Gulf because this is in the interest of Iraq. Collective security in the region has a positive reflection on the security situation inside Iraq, so we are working to restore relations between neighboring countries to ensure the security of the region. We are trying, and in this context, the first Baghdad conference was held, and the second edition of the Baghdad conference will be held in Jordan, and Bahrain will be present.

He noted: the stability of the region creates a stable security situation.

We are ready to help to negotiate between Riyadh and Tehran

In response to a question about Iraq’s efforts to bring the views of neighboring countries closer to each other, Fawad Hossein said: Our efforts are known. Meetings between Saudi Arabia and Iran were held with the efforts of Iraq, and if Tehran and Riyadh are ready to sit at the table again, we are ready to help. We are trying to create a specific situation to achieve peace in the region in line with everyone’s interests because the tensions in the region have a negative impact on the internal situation of Iraq. Hence, Iraq’s internal security is linked to regional security and security situation. As a result, we are trying to create a new regional security situation that will reflect (positively) on the security situation in these countries and of course Iraq as one of them.

We did not agree with Trump’s policy

In another part of his interview, he pointed to the tensions during Donald Trump’s presidency and clarified: The tensions that existed between Iran and America during Donald Trump’s presidency had a (negative) impact on Iraq. We did not (agree) with Trump’s policy and did not approve his decisions, and as a result, the tensions between Washington and Tehran during Trump’s administration were transferred to Iraq.

The Sudanese government is a strong coalition government

Fawad Hossein said about the Popular Mobilization Organization of Iraq: The Popular Mobilization Organization is a part of the General Command and the Iraqi Armed Forces, and the Commander-in-Chief is the Prime Minister according to the constitution, and we were all fighting the ISIS terrorist group in the same trench. Therefore, military and security issues are subject to the General Command of the Armed Forces, and the current government (headed by Mohammad Shia al-Sudani) has the ability to deal with any crisis. We manage these crises and are solving them, and the current government of Iraq A strong coalition government has the support and can take any action against anyone who deviates from the right path of the government. The current government is trying to build the economy and provide services to the citizens.

He clarified: “We are going to live in a nascent democracy in Iraq… Iraq is now a sovereign and independent country; Unlike the era of Saddam’s regime, which was without sovereignty and the sovereignty of Iraq was in the hands of the UN Security Council.
