Finnish Prime Minister’s request to Turkey and Hungary about joining NATO

According to Fars International News Agency, following the opposition of only two members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), namely Turkey and Hungary, with Finland and Sweden joining this military alliance, Helsinki once again demanded the agreement of these two countries.

Finnish Prime Minister Sana Marin today (Tuesday) asked Turkey and Hungary to agree to the request of Sweden and Finland to join the NATO military alliance as soon as possible.

According to the news agencyReuters“, Marin said during a press conference about this: “All eyes are now on Hungary and Turkey. We are waiting for these countries to approve our requests.

Emphasizing the need for Finland and Sweden to join NATO as soon as possible, he said: “In my opinion, it is important that this be done preferably as soon as possible and without further delay.”

The governments of Turkey and Hungary are the only remaining countries in the NATO alliance that have not yet agreed to Finland and Sweden’s request for membership in NATO due to the fact that their conditions have not been met.

According to Reuters, the countries of Finland and Sweden last week, in an attempt to show a united front to Turkey, emphasized that both should join NATO at the same time.

Earlier, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan warned that he will not approve Sweden and Finland’s NATO membership application until these two countries fulfill their promises to Ankara. (More details)
