“First Neighbors”; This time Qatar

Following the second note of Esfand Khorasan newspaper by Ali Fahim Danesh, we read: The Islamic Republic of Iran has shown over the past forty-three years that it is more concerned about the security of the West Asian region than any other country. To ensure his security and that of the countries in the region, he has stood in the manly action and interacted with compassionate friends. The government of Ayatollah Ra’isi has also laid the groundwork for the diplomacy of its foreign policy apparatus by focusing on the policy of the “neighbors”. Although “looking east” plays an important role in this railing, this does not mean turning away from the rest of the world. Apart from the fact that the discourse nature of the Islamic Republic of Iran can attract many of the world’s public opinion, and this fascination can provide a platform for negotiation and dialogue with the whole world (except for the illegitimate existence of the Zionist regime), neighbors and marginalized. The people of the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman have always had a special place in our country’s regionalism strategy.

The point is that the last visit of the President of Iran to Qatar dates back to 10 years ago and during the presidency of Ahmadinejad, and now, after a decade, the leaders of the two countries are scheduled to meet again in Doha at the highest level. The president’s visit to Qatar doubles the importance of the region’s media and political activists. For many years, in order to realize its colonial interests and plunder the region’s reserves, the West has implemented the old colonial policy of creating divisions in the middle of the neighbors and has fueled the policy of Iranophobia among our southern neighbors. The security of the region must be ensured with the cooperation of the Persian Gulf countries, and accordingly, Tehran is ready to conclude a joint defense pact with the countries of the Persian Gulf region and put an end to all these baseless accusations.

Perhaps the pattern of relations between Tehran and Doha in the meantime can be an example for bilateral and multilateral interactions between the countries of the Persian Gulf. Has played. An approach that in some cases has been in conflict with the policies of the region’s traditional traditional actor, Saudi Arabia. Over the past several years, Doha has tried to define an independent and neutral policy in line with its national interests by learning from some events, including land, sea and air blockades imposed by Saudi Arabia and the UAE, and tensions in Syria. Slowly

A strategy in which strengthening relations with Tehran has played an important role. Obviously, the political aspects of the Iran-Qatar talks are important in the midst of the height of the nuclear talks and the possibility of reviving the UN Security Council, but in addition to the importance of political and security cooperation, it seems that Tehran-Doha relations can be developed and seriously improved Has. Both countries are seeking to reduce their dependence on fossil fuels and diversify their sources of income, but US sanctions and difficult financial exchanges have hampered trade between the two countries.

Iran’s current share of Qatar’s foreign trade is very small and in no way close to the political relations between the two countries, as well as Iran’s trade, industrial, agricultural and technological capacities. According to the Tehran International Chamber of Commerce, in June of this year, out of a total of about 26 billion and 700 million dollars in Qatar imports, Iran’s share was between 350 and 360 million dollars, which shows that even if we have a good political partner with Qatar, in terms of The economy is lower than expected. Economic logic dictates that in addition to bilateral political relations with Qatar, the volume of economic exchanges with this country also reaches a significant level.

Of course, given the small population of Qatar and its small consumer market, and also given that Qatar is not a country like the UAE that re-exports products, not all orientations of economic cooperation should be based on exports to this country, but the most important part of cooperation. The economy with Qatar should focus on attracting large investments of this country in our country’s unique economic opportunities. Qatar has already invested a large amount of its capital in various countries and in various fields, which, of course, is also very profitable for this country. Encouraging and interested Qatar in large investments is an approach that is very important for the export of monsoons such as fruits or nuts, etc. to this country and can also establish the key to turning these relations into long-term and strategic relations.
