Following Instagram, Spotify now intends to allow musicians to display their NFT tokens on the platform.
After Meta, Spotify now plans to allow musicians to display their NFT tokens in their personal profile on the platform during a pilot program. If you’re a trial user, you can now see Steve Aoki & The Wombats NFT series.
Spotify hosted musicians’ NFT tokens
According to Music Ally, Spotify is experimenting with ways to enable artists to display NFT tokens on its platform, and now has limited access to this feature for some Android users in the United States to preview NFT tokens from artists like Steve Aoki. And see The Wombats. A Spotify spokesman said:
Spotify allows some artists to advertise their NFT tokens through their profile on the app during a limited experiment. We routinely conduct preliminary tests to examine the experience of artists and their fans, and eventually some tests lead to the provision of permanent capabilities. Others, however, are eventually left out forever.
Given the propensity of Instagram and Spotify for NFT tokens, it is expected that more companies will turn to these tokens in the near future, but given the declining trend of unparalleled tokens and the market as a whole. Digital currencies, This trend may slow down a bit right now. According to the Wall Street Journal, daily sales of NFT tokens fell 92 percent from about 119,000 in November to 14,000 by the end of April.
If you’re an experimental user, when you go to Steve Aoki’s page or The Wombats on Spotify, you’ll notice a preview of the NFT tokens below the header and artist list. Clicking on them will display a set of NFT tokens that you can scroll through, and by selecting an NFT, an enlarged version of it with a brief description will be displayed.
Spotify also provides a “See More” option that takes you directly to the NFT page in OpenSea, where you can purchase them. Of course, Spotify does not seem to support gif or video tokens, and only displays an NFT still image. Spotify does not even support NFT audio, which seems a bit odd to a music streaming platform, but you can access its OpenSea page to watch video or listen to NFT audio.
According to Music Ally, Spotify does not receive a commission for selling musicians’ NFT tokens through the app, and is only testing integration. It is also unclear whether this experimental feature is available to other artists or is limited to Steve Aoki and The Wombats.
Recently and after the publication of two job vacancies related to blockchain technology and NFT Rumors have surfaced on Spotify about the company entering Web 3.0. Music Ally recently reported on a Spotify poll to gauge users’ perceptions and attitudes about NFT tokens.
