Forecast to buy 8.5 million tons of wheat in the current crop year

According to the Fars news agency, quoting from the information base of the Ministry of Agricultural Jihad, Sohrab Sohrabi, in an interview with our reporter, added: Last year, 7.2 million tons of wheat were purchased by the government and about 300,000 tons were purchased by the private sector.

He stated that the cultivated area of ​​wet and dry wheat in the country in the current crop year is 5,950,000 hectares and stated: The first wheat harvest has started in the southern provinces of Sistan and Baluchistan and Hormozgan, and in the coming weeks in southern provinces such as Kerman, Bushehr, Fars, Ilam and Khuzestan will harvest this product.

Referring to the rainfall conditions in the country, Sohrabi said: In the current crop year, according to the reports of the Meteorological Organization, the average rainfall in the country is 150 mm, which shows a 15.5% decrease compared to the long-term and a nearly 10% increase compared to last year.

He continued: Out of the total number of provinces in the country, nearly seven provinces had more rainfall than in the long term and 14 provinces had more rainfall than last year, and this survey shows that the rainfall conditions are not good in all provinces.

The manager of the country’s wheat plan noted: provinces such as Golestan, Ardabil, East Azerbaijan, West Azerbaijan, Razavi Khorasan, Qazvin and South Khorasan, their conditions are critical in terms of drought stress, both in the long term and in comparison to the previous crop year.

He said: Despite the weather conditions and climate changes, measures have been taken by the Ministry of Agricultural Jihad and the provinces of the country to support farmers and wheat production, so that in the current crop year, 320,000 tons of modified and certified seeds have been distributed. which shows an increase of 100 thousand tons compared to the previous crop year.

Sohrabi pointed out the increase in the consumption of agricultural fertilizers and stated: In the crop year 1402-1401, with the preparation, supply and distribution of fertilizers among farmers, we had better conditions in the consumption of this input, especially in the case of phosphate and potash fertilizers in the fields.

Stating that in the current crop year, the level of contract agriculture has increased to 1.555 thousand hectares, he acknowledged that: in the form of this type of cultivation, various supports have been provided, including insurance support, and contract wheat farmers pay their insurance costs after Delivery of their products to shopping centers is guaranteed.

The executive of the wheat plan pointed out that the contracted wheat growers will also pay 50% of the cost of phosphate and potash fertilizers in cash and the remaining 50% after delivering the product to guaranteed shopping centers.

He said: contract farmers also receive 100,000 tomans for each ton of wheat delivered to guaranteed shopping centers.

Sohrabi stated that the area under contract wheat cultivation in the last crop year was 250 thousand hectares.

The executive of the country’s wheat plan also stated about the plan to jump production in drylands: this plan is being implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Agricultural Jihad and the executive headquarters of Farman Imam (RA) in the current crop year at the level of 4.2 million hectares, and of this level, about 2 9 million hectares are devoted to wheat cultivation, which has affected the increase in production.
