Foreign Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan: We respond to any threat

As tensions between Baku and Yerevan continue, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jihun Bayramov stressed the country’s readiness to respond to threats.

According to the news agency “News ArmeniaAzerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov threatened Armenia at a press conference with his Slovak counterpart on Wednesday.

“If there is a threat to our country, there will be an appropriate response,” the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister told a joint news conference with Slovak Foreign Minister Ivan Kurkok, according to the report.

On Tuesday, the media of the Republic of Azerbaijan reported the beginning of military exercises in the Lachin region. The Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan announced that the military exercises of the Command and Staff of the Army of the Republic of Azerbaijan have started on October 19 in Lachin. The Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan has announced that this large-scale ground exercise will be held with the extensive use of means of communication and the use of various military equipment.

Some media outlets in the country reported the deployment of heavy and semi-heavy military equipment, including tanks and artillery units, during the exercise.

On Saturday, the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan announced the holding of an air exercise and stated that the main purpose of the exercise is to improve the skills of the personnel of the Defense Unit in managing anti-aircraft missile systems and increase their combat capability.

According to the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan, during this exercise, the combat crew will practice the standards of the OSA anti-aircraft missile system and will fight the hypothetical enemy, which consists of various types of drones and military fighters.

OSA is a Russian-made short-range mobile surface-to-air tactical missile system designed to engage cruise targets.

The Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan, without providing further details of the maneuver, including the venue and participating units, has claimed the success of its air defense personnel in carrying out military orders.

More than a year after the ceasefire agreement between Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan, border shootings between the two countries have also made headlines, with Yerevan and Baku repeatedly accusing each other of violating the agreement in recent months.
