Fourteenth generation Raptor Lake HX processors were introduced – 24 cores and 5.8 GHz

Processors for 14th generation laptops Raptor Lake HX They were unveiled by Intel at CES 2024 with a thermal power of 55 watts.

  • Intel unveiled 18 14th generation desktop processors at CES
  • AMD unveiled Ryzen 8000G desktop processors
  • Nvidia unveiled the RTX 4080 SUPER graphics card; More than 10 thousand cores and 16 GB GDDR6X

The Raptor Lake HX refresh series will actually bring a higher clock speed and slightly more features. These processors are aimed at powerful gaming laptops, and some models have better specifications than the thirteenth generation.

Some of the new features include Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 along with Thunderbolt 5 in the new laptops. Undoubtedly, Thunderbolt 5 is the most important, offering up to 3 times more bandwidth compared to Thunderbolt 4.

The flagship of the fourteenth generation Raptor Lake HX will be the 14900HX model, which uses the same 8 P cores and 16 E cores as the current 13900HX chip. However, the next model, the Core i7 14700HX, has 8 P cores and 12 E cores, more than 50% more E cores than the 13700HX.

Core i7 14650HX uses 8 + 8 configuration, which is better than 13650HX with 6 + 8 configuration, and finally 14500HX also uses the same 6 + 8 combination present in 13500HX. All these models have a higher clock speed than the previous generation.

The blue giant compares its processors to the Red Team’s Dragon Range HX series and claims that the Core i9 14900HX will perform up to 37% better at 1080p than the Ryzen 9 7945HX3D chip, which uses a higher cache. Intel also shows that the company’s flagship frame stability can be up to 58 percent faster than Dragon Range chips.

Also, apparently, APO or Advanced Performance Optimizations also comes to Core i9 and Core i7 HX series laptops, which offers up to 18% better performance in a title like Metro Exodus. Of course, more games are supposed to be supported by APO.

At the same time, Intel has unveiled the low-consumption Core Series 1 series with a thermal power of 15 watts, which actually includes three models: Core 7 Processor 150U, Core 5 Processor 120U, and Core 3 Processor 100U. We should mention that these models do not use the Meteor Lake architecture, which is in the Core Ultra series, and are actually from the Raptor Lake Refresh series.
