Frantex: The number of asylum seekers in the European Union has reached its highest level

Frantex estimates that more than 40,000 migrants and asylum seekers entered the 27-nation bloc between January and March 2022, up 57 percent from a year earlier, IRNA reported on Wednesday.
This is in addition to asylum seekers who have fled Ukraine and entered the bloc from EU border crossings.
According to Frantex, the Western Balkans have been the most popular transit route for migrants this year, with half of all migrants entering the EU this year.
Many migrants enter Turkey from Croatia and Greece via the Western Balkans and from there to the northern countries of the European Union. Many of these migrants are from Afghanistan and Syria.
Frantex also added that the number of immigrants entering the UK through the English Channel in France increased by 190% compared to last year.
The number of illegal immigrants detained by Frantex in Eastern Europe was the largest increase of all immigration routes, growing by 714%, according to Euronews.
The European Border Agency reports: “The reason for this is that some Ukrainian citizens are seeking to cross the border illegally, even though most of them have entered through normal and legal crossings.”
According to UN figures, five million people have fled the Ukraine war so far, with Poland hosting half of them. Hungary has so far accepted nearly half a million asylum seekers.
At the same time, these same countries are refusing to accept asylum seekers from the Middle East, and the European Union is trying to implement a quota system for the reception of asylum seekers from the Middle East throughout the Union.
