From the grand theft of the Central Bank of Spain to the fastest and biggest bank robbery in Iran

Siamak Golshiri considers the reason why such films and stories are not made and written in Iran to be the so-called hot topic. Of course, he believes that some writers are not worried about writing about what is happening in Iran, as if they live on the moon! Golshiri is the author of the best-selling novel “The Bat of the Night”, which he wrote dozens of other times in the horror genre. The ruler of the world shakes, he recounts.
Why do big thefts become the subject of best-selling stories and movies?
Such topics, because they are enigmatic and very exciting, are read and seen. The enigmatic aspect of having an effect in itself persuades many audiences. Riddles and riddles in these films and works must be solved and that is why the fascinating story comes out of the water. Adventure stories, however, have a wider audience, and films made in this field have a wider range of viewers. But if this incident has depth, it will be in the category of brilliant works.
What do you mean by depth? That is, just to be thoughtful?
That is, it does not focus only on the incidental aspects of the story. We also have to look at the human aspects. When we say deepen, it means, for example, that it becomes a character story. That is, to be personality-oriented. Certainly, such works will be incident-oriented, but in some places, they will also have to deal with the character. In purely incidental stories, everything goes hand in hand to form that incident. But we also see aspects of the story of situation and character in these stories. If I want to give an example, I have to give an example of the story of “Necklace” by “Guy de Maupassant”.
After all, when someone who has lost a necklace is told that it was a necklace, it is true that the audience is surprised, but at the same time we think about all the questions that come to mind while reading the story. For example, in the story of the “necklace”, the couple could have lived together in love and lost their lives because of this necklace, which was also exchanged. That is, they had to pay their debts for nothing throughout their lives. For this reason, we assume that the story of Gay Do Mopasan is a story that has at least some depth. A story that is not only an adventure story, but also a character-centered story.
You mentioned the “theft of money” series before the conversation about the big thefts, and I used the “Vikings” as an example. Or the work of George Martin, the Game of Thrones. It is true that the themes of these films were fantasy and adventurous, but it seems that they had unfamiliar themes. Very bold themes. Game of Thrones was also a character story. Each of these characters gives us depth. Especially “Premium”, the dwarf in the story. Also, Dennis, Kalisi, the mother of the dragon, Cersei, etc. In addition, the story has become a story of the situation.
That’s why I think the difference between a good incident story and a normal incident story is that they don’t just deal with the incident, and the characters find depth in it.
For what reason or series of psychological-artistic reasons does the audience insidiously like to defeat the anti-hero who steals with his thoughts? On the other hand, it is disgusting to assume that forced suffocation, which happened to one of our artists last week. But in “stealing money” (MONEY MIESTNo one likes to fail in a fight between the police and the professor, who uses his mind to rob the Mint and the National Bank of Spain. Why do we sometimes want a smart thief to win in theft stories?
I will tell you the reason frankly. In a work like “Familiar with Open Hands” written by Anton Chekhov, the woman is an anti-hero. Morally, he may have flaws, but we, as the audience, accompany him. It is precisely the art of the director and the writer that shows itself here that we associate with characters who may be anti-heroes, and we want them to be victorious.
What elements are rooted in its series of reasons?
This is because the director and the writer themselves work to make us feel mentally close to them. The writer and the director, as the audience, puts us in the crosshairs of events that we want him to win. In the same story, “The Familiar with Open Hands” by Anton Chekhov, the author allows us to look at this woman and accompany her, and go so far as to want her to return to her previous job, but after the story is over. We also answer those questions with ourselves, whether this life is stable or lasting or not ?! Will not this woman’s life suffer again? This is what happens with such works. That is, the writer and director deliberately work to bring us closer to the characters. We may hate those characters who are all positive. If I want to give an immediate and so-called answer to you journalists, it is that the author, with the tricks he has in his pocket, deepens the characters for us.
Are grand thefts and gangs part of the police literature?
Definitely so.
Does the presence of the police in such stories matter?
There may be police in the story. A story like “Night Bat” that I wrote myself without the presence of the police. In this novel, we encounter two criminals and a murderer from the beginning.
Of course, the story can be predicted. In my opinion, such stories in which the police are not present can be called accident stories or situational stories.
Why in Iran are not police stories written in which there is neither political nor criminal discussion, such as robbing a museum and a bank?
It is currently being written. I must emphasize that our literature is 100 years old. The prose and literature that took the novel and story from the West is 100 years old. We have not had a classical era like Europe and America. European classics are works that belong to the whole world. The antiquity of our fiction literature, with an emphasis on the four generations in which it exists, to the present day, when the number of writers is very large, is a long discussion. It is not limited to writing novels about theft. Fantasy novel, teen, horror genre is recently spending its childhood in our country. Of course, very good works have been created, but this has happened recently. Young storytellers come up with a genre called genre writing. I think our writers did not know the value of a crime at one time. They only thought that they were valuable works in which realistic aspects were seen or in which some kind of society was presented. For this reason, we have not had the genres of horror, crime, detective, adventure and mystery to date. Most writers are interested in realist works and are only recently moving in this direction. I think from now on, brilliant works will be created.
The robbery of the National Bank of the university branch was, according to the police, the fastest and biggest robbery in the history of Iran, and the thieves were also arrested very quickly. Why is less written about such big thefts, which are the mystery of accidents, in our country? Of course, as you say, we live in many genres as children. In your opinion, despite the fact that this great and new subject has the potential to become a story, why can’t a writer like a journalist be found who stands by this subject, researches and writes a novel about it?
You say that it is the fastest theft and it has happened recently. We have never seen such thefts before. There has never been a case of stealing with this amount of money. Many things happen to me that I am interested in writing about. There are many things that can happen to my mind as a writer. By that I mean that writers pursue genre writing, they pursue literature other than realist literature. I think all these issues will take shape soon. After the story of Babak Khorramdin, it was announced in a couple of places that I was going to write a novel about it. Several reporters announced their readiness to provide me with the raw material.
At what stage is this work?
Another novel came to my mind and I started writing it. He is currently in the Ministry of Guidance. I may find out about this one day. At the same time, many things happen in the writer’s life. Of course, I must also mention that our writers are less concerned with current issues.
Why?
Perhaps one of the reasons goes back to the audit debate. This is just one of the reasons. Many topics do not go back to auditing, but are not the concern of many writers.
Why not their concern?
Believe me I do not know! Ask yourself! After reading many of the stories and novels that are sent to me, I think as if the author lives in a land other than Iran. As if he has not lived in this climate at all! Or assuming he did not set foot on the planet at all!
Is there any criticism of the authors? It is true?
Not all authors are included.
Many writers write stories that are not the concern of the day. Personally, I’m concerned about writing about everyday issues, as many other writers do, but another aspect of bank robbery is space and time. That is, the more we let an incident pass, the more closely it is looked at. After a while, there will be more raw material that can be collected. The author’s view of the story deepens.
To write such accident stories, must the accident have happened in that country?
Not required.
Specifically, in order to write in a specific genre in Iran, for example, a major bank robbery, these types of robberies must have been committed?
Not necessarily! I was reading a criminal subject that was very interesting to me. I saved that note. I thought I could write a novel based on that. It is interesting to know that this happened in America. For me, it was a separate headline and title, I thought that it was easy to Iranianize the subject and write a novel based on it. You do not necessarily have to have an accident happen in Iran to make it a story. If the author concentrates on his surroundings and all the news he hears, he can start with several raw materials and write his novel with the same first words.
