Jalil Salari, the CEO of the National Company for Refining and Distribution of Petroleum Products, in an interview with the economic reporter of Fars News Agency, said: One of the priorities of the company is the development of alternative fuels of gasoline and diesel in the fuel basket. In the field of CNG development, we have carried out measures in the two areas of workshop conversion and factory production.
He added: According to the resolution of the Economic Council, the free conversion of cars into gas-fueled cars continues and 250 thousand cars have been converted. Also, at the same time, permission to build 400 CNG stations has also been obtained, and we are looking to build 40 of these stations in Sistan and Baluchistan province, and the license has been requested.
Salari continued: We tried to give incentives for the construction of CNG stations by giving a special fee; But it did not reach any result. Considering that the difference in the price of gasoline and CNG is not noticeable, neither cars are interested in becoming dual fuel even for free, nor is anyone interested in building a CNG station.
The CEO of the National Refining and Broadcasting Company said: “There were also some old dual-fuel vehicles whose tanks and kits needed to be updated with the new 4th and 5th generation technology to reduce consumption and eliminate engine wear and tear.” In this regard, we took action to obtain a license from the Economic Council and obtained this resolution to create more suitable conditions for converting cars.
He emphasized: Currently, most of the taxis are dual fuel, and we should pursue the license for dual fuel cars in a more general and comprehensive manner. Also, in the new year, we are looking for the use of composite tanks in the field of CNG, which reduces the weight of the car. We are currently determining and submitting standards to the standards organization.
Salari stated: In the discussion of the factory production contract of 45,000 dual-fuel cars with Iran Khodro, this company refused to provide a guarantee for obtaining bank facilities. Also, this company changed the costs later, while other figures were agreed in the contract.

CEO of National Refining and Broadcasting Company said: In the country, the trend of car production is increasing, without paying attention to the issue of optimizing fuel consumption in cars. We must have a balance between the input and output of the car; That means we have to scrap low-quality cars to create this balance.
He said: It is natural, in a situation where no attention is paid to the issue of optimization and the gasoline consumption of domestic cars is on average twice the global average, it is not possible to respond to the demand by building a refinery and increasing gasoline production.
In response to a Fars news reporter’s question about the effect of the difference in domestic and export fuel prices on smuggling, Salari said: Yes, the difference in domestic and export prices has definitely increased diesel smuggling. By calculating the mileage of diesel vehicles and the amount of diesel consumption in industries and power plants, the amount of diesel consumption should be around 75 to 77 million liters per day, while this figure is on 85 million liters, which means the fate of around 8 to 10 million liters of diesel is unknown.
