Gazprom: Russian gas supply to China on January 1 set a new record

Meanwhile, Miller confirmed on Monday that the company produced 412.6 billion cubic meters of gas last year, or nearly 20 percent less than the year before (2021).

The official channel of this company in Telegram quoted Miller as saying: In 2022, Gazprom’s gas production reached 412.6 billion cubic meters.

In 2021, Gazprom produced 514.8 billion cubic meters of gas, which was an increase of 62.2 billion cubic meters compared to 2020. This is the best index in the last 13 years.

Miller added: Gazprom has exported 100.9 billion cubic meters of gas to countries outside the Commonwealth of Nations.

At the same time, based on the results of 2021, Gazprom’s gas exports to countries outside the CIS amounted to 185.1 billion cubic meters of gas, which is the fourth highest figure in history. Therefore, during that year, the company had a supply decrease of about 84.2 billion cubic meters or 45.5%.

Wang Yongzhang, Vice President of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) recently said that the export of Russian gas to China through the eastern route known as the Power of Siberia Pipeline should be continuously increased.

This 3,000-kilometer border pipeline started sending Russian natural gas to China in 2019 and has the capacity to send 61 billion cubic meters of gas per year, of which 38 billion cubic meters are for export. Russia’s gas supply to China through this pipeline increased by 10.4 billion cubic meters last year.

Yong Zhang said at the Russia-China Energy Trade Conference on Tuesday: “It is necessary to continuously increase the supply of Russian gas to China through the Eastern route, the two sides will continue to cooperate in this field and use all its advantages and trade cooperation.” They strengthen and generalize.”

He also called for the strengthening of scientific and technical cooperation between the two countries in order to improve the quality of joint cooperation in the oil and gas sector as well as in the field of green energy. The gas supply agreement through the Power of Siberia pipeline between Gazprom and CNPC was signed in 2014 under a 30-year contract. This $400 billion contract is the largest contract in the history of Gazprom and Power of Siberia, the first natural gas pipeline between Russia and China.

The Russian company is currently working on the “Power of Siberia 2” project, which involves the construction of a gas pipeline to China through the territory of Mongolia. This pipeline will have the capacity to send 50 billion cubic meters of gas as soon as it is put into operation.
