German Chancellor calls for more social media accountability – Mehr News Agency | Iran and world’s news



In an interview defending the digital services law, German Chancellor Olaf Schultz stressed the importance of social media accountability for published content.

“Platforms and companies need to recognize and validate their social responsibility,” Schultz told the re: publica digital conference in Berlin.

According to Schultz, laws such as digital services impose heavy fines on online platforms that do not control illegal content. These laws help make markets stronger and do not lead to censorship.

He compared the Digital Services Act to the Rent Protection Act, adding that there are more rental apartments on the market in places where tenants are more protected.
