German Prime Minister’s trip to Riyadh, UAE and Qatar for energy supply

According to the report of Fars International News Agency, on Monday, the media announced the upcoming visit of the German Prime Minister to the Arab countries on the southern shore of the Persian Gulf with the aim of providing energy.

According to “AFPGerman Chancellor Olaf Schultz will first visit Saudi Arabia and meet with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Shultz will also go to Qatar and the United Arab Emirates during this two-day trip that will take place in the coming days.

German government spokesman Stephen Hebstreit said that Schultz will first travel to Saudi Arabia with a business delegation, where he will meet with the crown prince and possibly King Salman.

He did not give details of Schultz’s trip, but said that if the issue of energy will be discussed. Hebstreit also added that during this meeting, there will be discussions about the murder of Khashoggi, a critic of the Saudi government, who was killed in Turkey by Al Saud officials.

Schultz is supposed to go to the UAE after his visit to Saudi Arabia and meet with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates.

German Economy Minister Robert Haubeck said that Schultz will sign gas contracts in the UAE to replace Russia’s energy supply.

The German Prime Minister will then meet and talk with Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of Qatar. Habakkuk previously visited Qatar and the United Arab Emirates in March in an effort to find alternatives to Russian gas, on which Germany has traditionally been heavily dependent.

Russia’s decision to cut supply has created an energy crisis in Europe, and consumers and businesses will face higher bills as winter approaches.

While Western countries accuse Moscow of using gas as a weapon, the Russian government has called the Western countries’ sanctions against this country one of the main factors in stopping Russian gas exports to Europe.

In the wake of the Ukraine war, the European Union collectively and the bloc’s countries individually have taken measures in recent months to reduce dependence on Russian oil, gas and coal. These measures have caused energy prices to skyrocket in the West and threaten this union due to the approach of winter. Russian President Vladimir Putin has described the policy of Europeans as “suicide”.

Analysts fear that the ban imposed by the European Union on the purchase of Russian oil will increase the price of fuel in European countries.

The International Energy Agency has predicted that the full implementation of EU sanctions will cause a 20% drop in Russian oil. Russia is one of the largest exporters of oil in the world, and this decrease will cause a huge shortage in the world markets. (More details)
