German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius announced last Friday during a surprise trip to Kiev that Ukraine is going to receive a shipment of more than 100 older Leopard 1 battle tanks from Germany and two other European countries.

The Minister of Defense of Germany also said in an interview with the Spanish publication “La Vanguardia” that more than 100 Ukrainian forces have started training with Leopard 1 tanks, and Germany has so far delivered 18 Leopard 2 tanks and about 40 Marder armored personnel carriers to Ukraine. have given.

German protesters, appearing on the streets of this European country, expressed their opposition to sending weapons to Ukraine and demanded the resumption of the Kiev peace talks.

This is not the first time that German protesters have demonstrated their opposition to the policy of continuing the war in Ukraine.

Recently, a public opinion poll showed a difference in the German attitude towards sending German tanks to Ukraine. The results of this survey showed that 46% of Germans were in favor and 43% were against sending these tanks.

The strongest opposition to the delivery of heavy battle tanks came from supporters of the “Alternative for Germany” party. 84% of supporters of this party were against sending Leopard tanks to Ukraine. Tino Krupala, one of the leaders of this party, described this action as “irresponsible and dangerous”. He wrote in a tweet: “Germany is in danger of being drawn directly into the war.”
