Ghaffari: In our media narratives about Gaza, the element of emotion prevails over the epic

According to the media reporter of Fars news agency, the review meeting of the television program “To the Horizon of Palestine” yesterday was attended by Jalal Ghafari, the former director of the Oqof network and the former head of the Faculty of Social and Cultural Sciences of Imam Hossein University (AS), Mohammad Agassi, the director general of the Studies Office. and media planning of the Ministry of Guidance and Atefeh Sadeghi, a researcher at the Majlis Research Center and a university lecturer, discussed the recent changes in the Palestinian horizon program.
Jalal Ghafari stated that “Afq should be clapping for Palestine” and spoke about the necessity of dealing with the Palestinian issue in the national media and added: “Afq channel should also have a program for Palestine from 5 years ago.” He called the change of the programming group a normal thing in programming and considered it the right of the network manager, but on the condition that it does not convey political meaning in the mind of the audience.
After the programming team left, mental resistance was formed in the audience
Referring to the bad effect of this change, Agassi said: “After the departure of the previous programming team, a mental resistance was formed in the audience and they thought that something had happened, and now after the change of the program team, when some people watch the program, Some of the program’s messages are ignored.”
Sadeghi also objected to this change and believed that these events show that the program is not seen in a dialectical relationship with the audience and that the managers consider the program as their property. As an audience, I am faced with an issue called place to place; Basically, is it allowed to move a media group that has been able to form a memory and a collective memory to be done only by radio and television managers?”
We have to put aside the media minus the people
Agassi stated that the people and the taste of the people are the priority of the national media and added: “Media without an audience, even if it carries the best messages, will not be useful. We have to put aside the media minus the people.” He also talked about the growth of mass media in recent years and, referring to the vast changes in the mechanism of formation and change of public opinion, he added that as a result of these vast changes in the field of public opinion, new coordinates for programming are also created.
The former director of the Ispa Opinion Center, who has also appeared as a guest in the Palestine Horizon program, considered the Palestine Horizon program to be in line with these new coordinates compared to other dialogue-oriented programs and evaluated the performance of this program in this context. He reported a significant increase in the positive attitude of the Iranian people towards the issue of resistance and Palestine in the last one month.
The predominance of the feeling element over the epic in the narrative of Gaza
Jalal Ghafari while emphasizing the necessity of forming a narrative and a macro approach to the Palestinian issue on the radio said: “In our media narratives about Palestine and Gaza, the element of emotion prevails over the epic and the emotional elements of these events are always represented. Hatred of Israel exists in the existence of every Iranian, but this has not turned into a grand narrative combined with epic. This grand narrative should be shaped, written and tried to advance this matter through the production of content and riches.
Atefeh Sadeghi also pointed to the failure of the Palestine Horizon program in creating a grand narrative of the Islamic Republic of Iran regarding the cause of Palestine, emphasizing the importance of forming a global grand narrative and said: “If you are not able to achieve these victories in the field in your own objective field. Have serious theoretical preparations, competing media will take that reality and conceptual victory from you.”
According to Fars, the broadcast of the program “To the Horizon of Palestine” began in the early days of the Al-Aqsa storm operation in collaboration with the Oj media art organization and the Efoq network, edited by Mehdi Arafati and directed by Mohammad Reza Shahidifar, but gradually the team that created this program faced changes and transformations.
