Greece: A very positive atmosphere has been created in relations with Türkiye

According to the report of Fars International News Agency, the Minister of Defense of Greece on Sunday expressed the change in the relations between Greece and Turkey and welcomed the positive atmosphere created between the two neighboring countries.
According to the newspaperKathimriniNikos Panagiotopoulos, the Minister of Defense of Greece, said that now there is an opportunity to strengthen relations, good neighborliness, the formation of peace, security and stability in the region by respecting international relations.
He also mentioned his trip to Turkey last week, in which he and his Turkish counterpart Halusi Akar visited the earthquake affected areas in Hatay. The trip was part of an effort to ease tensions over long-running disputes in the eastern Mediterranean over maritime boundaries and drilling rights.
After the February earthquakes in Turkey, Greece was among the first countries to offer aid, and an outpouring of support helped ease tensions. Turkey, in turn, expressed sympathy after the deadly train accident in northern Greece.
Akar said last week: “I hope that Turkey and Greece, two civilized countries, can solve these problems within the framework of good neighborly relations through peaceful methods and among mutual respect and dialogue.”
In his remarks, Panagiotopoulos also pointed to the strengthening of the Greek armed forces by maintaining existing systems and acquiring advanced systems that enhance Greece’s deterrence capability.
Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu has presented a 6-point proposal to Greece with the aim of improving bilateral relations after the earthquake disaster and helping Greece. Çavuşoğlu said that Greece was one of the first countries to support Turkey by sending rescue teams and humanitarian aid after the deadly earthquakes.
Turkey and Greece have differences in the fields of energy exploration, the militarization of some islands in the Aegean Sea, and asylum seekers.
