Holding the first ECO Insurance Summit hosted by Iran

Mahmoud Asad Samani stated: The first summit of insurance companies of ECO member countries in the field of crisis risk insurance will be hosted by Iran on December 13th and 14th.
He added: “This program has been approved by the heads and ministers of ECO member countries and has also been mentioned in the ECO Regional Planning Council.”
“Crisis is a well-known concept and an international term, and the United Nations uses the term to refer to crises of natural and man-made origin,” he said.
He said: “We have natural crises such as floods, earthquakes, volcanoes and similar issues that occur in different regions or we have crises that have human origins, such as the Beirut explosion, which can be broadly referred to as crises.”
Asad Samani added: “Thus, the United Nations calls on all countries to take action for natural and man-made crises, and for this purpose, in 2015, the” Sendai Document “was signed in Sendai, Japan.” These events disrupt the path of sustainable development of countries and create poverty and shake the economy of countries.
“Given that crises are not in line with the sustainable development that needs to happen in the world, they need to be managed,” he said. The UN recommends that this management be in line with crisis risk reduction. Since insurance is one of the risk management tools, so one of the strategies in this field is to use risk management in the insurance industry.
The head of the Central Insurance Risk Management Development Center, referring to the global meetings for risk management at the global level, stated: “This meeting is also scheduled to be held at the regional level; Usually at these meetings, members seek to follow the insurance mechanisms for transmitting crisis risk.
Regarding the participants in the first insurance summit, he said: “10 countries are permanent members of ECO, among which the heads of insurance companies of Afghanistan and Turkmenistan will not attend the Tehran summit, and the presidents or senior officials of eight other ECO member countries will attend.” Had.
Asad Samani said: “Considering that the crisis and crisis risk management is a global issue and our country is in a crisis-prone region, holding an insurance summit in our country is of special importance.”
“According to statistics, more than $ 2 billion in damage is caused to the eco-zone annually by natural disasters, and because it is a high cost and cannot be absorbed by insurance mechanisms, we are looking to develop a regional insurance system in the event of a crisis,” he said.
