Qatar’s first parliamentary elections began this morning with 284 candidates running, media sources said.

According to Sputnik, this is the first election in the history of Qatar and 30 people are expected to be elected by the participants in the voting process. The Arabic-language media reported that the elections will be held in 30 constituencies. Meanwhile, 15 other delegates will be elected by the Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

Al-Akhbar recently published an article referring to the first parliamentary elections in Qatar and foreign sabotage in the run-up to the elections. Al-Akhbar newspaper reports: The Emir of Qatar has ordered the holding of parliamentary elections in recent days. This is the first time that elections are held in Qatar. The election appears to be a “semi-democratic” celebration in Qatar.

“Despite all this, there have been recent moves by foreign parties to influence Qatar’s parliamentary elections and sabotage them,” Al-Akhbar reported. Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates are among the parties sabotaging this. By inciting the Bani Mara tribe in Qatar, they intend to implement their scenario against Doha to challenge the elections.
