He mentioned the purpose of holding the National Festival of Sesame Products in Ardakan to offer the capabilities of the sesame products industry along with how to prepare these products and foods related to this field and said: this festival is being held by the Sesame Products Cluster and the province’s food tourism committee.

The cleric added: “Preparations for the registration of this national festival are underway to witness its holding every year, but at the same time we will try to follow the international level in the coming years if possible.”

The Director General of Yazd Cultural Heritage stated: Basically, tourism is considered as a set of activities in which a person travels to a place other than his normal place of residence and stays there for at least one night for a maximum of one year.

He added: “In this definition, the purpose of travel is to spend leisure time, and if this tourism is intended to experience the food and drinks of the destination, it is called food tourism.”

“The importance of food tourism is to the extent that food plays an important role in choosing tourist destinations,” he said. The climatic, environmental, cultural and historical conditions of a region play an important role in creating an important tourist destination.

According to the director general of the province’s cultural heritage, this type of tourism is also placed next to issues related to cultural tourism, to the point that even some local food becomes the human and cultural heritage of a region.

He emphasized that the consumption of food and snacks in the trip of each tourist, accounts for one third of the total cost of his trip, and therefore we must look at it as a revenue-generating part of tourism, he specified: Food tourism can have a high capacity Have a region in sustainable economic, social and environmental development that Yazd province, especially Ardakan city is no exception to this rule.

Akhundi said: “In the past, it was thought that Yazd is not a city with a high variety of food and can not have specialized food tourism, but souvenirs, sweets, dishes, desserts and local foods of Yazd showed a great variety and specific to each region and city.” Yazd can have a very high position in this area.

He continued: “One of the most interesting issues about Yazd food is the culture and tradition of cooking some of these foods or the narrations and stories related to them that have led to them having a special place.”

He said that many foods in Yazd have been registered as intangible heritage, which has led to these capacities to help tourism development today, he said: Although local food is part of our culture, but we see that less in the menu of restaurants And there are cafes of historical textures, and more than just cooking local food and developing it and promoting it, we see fast food food that needs to be given special attention.
