Quoted from TasnimAccording to the Statistics Center of Turkey, 1,491,856 housing units were sold last year (2021), which shows a decrease of about half a percent compared to 1,499,316 units in 2020.

The highest demand for housing in the last year is in the city of Istanbul. The city accounts for 18.5% of Turkey’s total housing sales. In other words, in 2021, 276,223 houses were sold in Istanbul. It is followed by Anka with 144,104 sales and Izmir with 86,722 home sales.

Among different nationalities, Iranian citizens have bought 10,056 housing units in Turkey in 2021, which is in the first place in this regard.

The Iraqis are in second place with 8,661 purchases and the Russians are in third place with 5,379 housing purchases. Afghan citizens are also ranked fourth. Afghans bought 2,762 housing units in Turkey last year.

The Turkish Statistics Center reports that housing sales in December 1400 increased by 113.7% compared to the same month last year to 226,503. Istanbul has the largest share with 17.2 percent and 39,026 home sales.

One of the reasons for the increase in housing purchases is the devaluation of the lira, which has led to more housing being bought in Turkey by other foreign nationals.
