How much did the filming of “Jiran” in Golestan Palace damage this palace?

The filming of the series “Jeeran” in the Golestan Palace, which is aired on the home network these days, has raised concerns about the presence of agents in the palace and the use of the exquisite objects of this world heritage complex, but the officials of the palace say there is no reason to worry.
Charso Press: “Jeeran” is one of the TV series directed by Hassan Fathi and featuring actors such as Maryla Zarei, Bahram Radan, Parinaz Izdiyar and Amir Hossein Fathi. This historical series was filmed in different cities such as Tehran, Qazvin, Kashan, Khansar and Golpayegan.
The Jeeran series depicts the story of a Tajiri girl named Khadija with the role of Parinaz Izdiyar. A girl who fate separates her from her love and lover “Siavash” and drags her from a village in Tajrish to Tehran and Naseruddin Shah’s palace and becomes “Jiran Khatun”, the favorite woman of Naseruddin Shah and Sugli Haramsara.
This series has been recorded and filmed in important and famous historical collections such as Tehran’s Golestan Palace and the historical house of the Tabatabais of Kashan. Certainly, at first glance, the images taken in Golestan Palace make everyone worried about the condition of this palace after filming, because generally, the films recorded in historical collections have not been without damage, and after the filming, souvenirs of them are left on the buildings. History remains. However, considering that Golestan Palace is considered among Iran’s world heritage, it has more sensitivities.
Afrin Emami (Director of the World Heritage Collection of Golestan Palace) pointed out that about 20-30% of this series was filmed in Golestan Palace and said: The filming of this series took about 50 days and part of this time was during the Corona period when the palace was closed. was and was not allowed to visit the public, it was filmed.
According to him, in order to film parts of the Jiran series, which was done in the Golestan Palace Mirror Hall, all the objects of this hall were collected, packed and transferred to the palace tank. In fact, the Hall of Mirrors was completely emptied and nothing was left at the disposal of the film crew. The agents were not even allowed to use the floor of the hall, and the film crew started working after taking pictures from the floor of the hall by building and placing a new structure like flooring on it. The stones seen in the series are flooring and photographs, and the carpets are all machine-made. In general, none of the works seen in this series belong to Golestan Palace.
He emphasized: During the filming, which was accompanied by the presence of heritage observers, no damage was done to the walls and body of Golestan Palace, and the group also cooperated in this regard. Filming was done in Badgir mansion, Shams-ul-Amara and Hall of Mirrors. Of course, we did not have any works in Badgir and Shams-ul-Amara mansions, and only the space and architecture were used, and we also removed the works in Aine Hall for a few days. The bed is also made by them and the works of Golestan Palace are not used.
Jabar Aoaj (Executive Deputy of Golestan Palace) also said regarding the presence of the “Jiran” film crew in Golestan Palace: the museum and building had an expert team to supervise all the filming stages, so they did not witness any incidents such as broken doors, chandeliers, falling There were no walls and… In general, it can be said that doing such things and filming such series in historical and cultural collections can create an incentive among the general public to visit Golestan Palace, but it reduces the cultural and historical dignity of the collections and palaces.
He continued: It is better for people to know Golestan Palace for its variety of unique tile work and mirror work and for its unique architecture and come to see it, or for them to come to see the palace because of the “Jeeran” series and remember seeing the palace. Drop a series? Perhaps filming and the presence of film crews did not cause physical or material damage to the complex, but you can be sure that it affects the identity and value of the palace and historical collections.
Auj clarified: The view that the cinema industry can promote the tourism of heritage works with its depictions is incorrect, because the dignity of the works is lowered with such a way of thinking. It is better to know each historical work with its original identity.
The Executive Vice President of Golestan Palace said regarding the possible damage of the presence of the film crew in the Hall of Mirrors and other parts of the Golestan Palace and the effect of people breathing in and out on this world heritage work, the presence of the actors of the “Jeeran” series was controlled in different parts of the palace. A limited number were allowed into space. The flooring was used so that their movements would not damage the complex and any device or device, whether it was a samovar, even a smoker, etc., was not allowed to enter the complex.
