Huawei will start shipping 5G phones later this year

Huawei which has faced many export restrictions from the United States over the past few years and is therefore unable to produce 5G phones at the moment, plans to enter once again by the end of the year 5G phone market to be

Three Chinese research companies told Reuters In order to realize its plans, Huawei must be able to design 5G chips using its advances in semiconductor design and chip manufacturing, and it will get help from SMIC in this regard.

While one of the research firms in the report claimed that Huawei would produce around 2 to 4 million 5G devices, the other company estimated, without providing any details, that the number could be as high as 10 million.

Huawei; Popular blacklist

After being blacklisted by the US in 2019, Huawei has been dealing with severe US government sanctions over national concerns for more than four years now. Despite these sanctions, American companies will no longer sell their hardware and software to Huawei, and the Chinese brand’s access to 5G chipsets will be cut off.

Recently, the European Union and Portugal announced that they would probably ban the use of Huawei equipment in their 5G networks. However, the Chinese giant’s boss said earlier this year that the US sanctions would lead to a rebirth of the domestic chip industry.

Now, returning to the 5G phone market could be a big win for the company that once competed with Apple and Samsung as the world’s biggest phone makers. Despite the sanctions, Huawei’s revenue reached $67 billion in 2020 and fell by almost 50 percent a year later. Huawei’s market share has also decreased sharply at home and abroad, and its market share in China has reached 10% in the first quarter.
