Hypotheses about the main culprits of movie smuggling

Charso Press: Since the beginning of this year, the scope and growth of Iranian cinema’s problems have become wider and more extensive compared to recent periods and years, sometimes the situation is such that we take every aspect of cinema issues for analysis and evaluation, suddenly another corner emerges.

On the assumption that if we write a report about the strange rulings of the judiciary for artists, the discussion of underground films will become heated, we will talk about the stagnation and low box office of the films, the ban on the work and the ban on the activities of cinematographers will make headlines, and we will write about the censorship and audit of the scripts and the works of cinematographers, it will be a discussion and controversy at once. Repetitive and boring Satra takes place with the home show network, we get interviews about the living conditions and unemployment of the actors, the topic of suicide is discussed, and now for a few days now, in a strange and unexpected way, the smuggling of films has created tension in the cinema, and that is not a film that Like a domino, the illegal version of several movies has been published in cyberspace.

What is clear is that this discussion started at the end of last year with the quality version of “Leila Brothers” movies and continued to “World War III”, “The Hypothetical Line, Subtraction, Dreamless and Dear Nazanin, Bahare and Tina”. All movie smuggling hypotheses

This hypothesis holds that there are hands that are destroying Iranian cinema and especially social cinema.
2- The second theory is that the filmmakers themselves were involved in the release of the illegal version of their film. This hypothesis becomes stronger about the two films “Supposed Line” and “Pious…”. In explanation of this theory, it should be said that the film “Radatmand” is one of the works that has been around for a long time since it was made and banned, and this film has not been shown to the public at all, and with the recent incidents that have happened to some of the actors in the film, it seems unlikely at all. “Devoted…” will be released to the public. This theory says: Hands deliberately release the illegal version of the film immediately after the dreamless and subtractive under the assumption that the killer is missing and cannot be found. We could not communicate with the film crew to verify the validity of this theory.
According to what we have heard, “The Hypothetical Line” has been audited for the time of release, so that this audit changed the message of the film, this hypothesis says: it is not unlikely that the unaudited version of this film has reached the hands of profiteers by the film’s agents themselves. We talked to Farnoosh Samadi, the director of the film about this, and he completely rejects this hypothesis and says: The release of the smuggled version of the film was not by the owners of the works, and at the same time, this version was smuggled by a foreign distributor or because it was screened outside of Iran. It has not happened either.
3- The third hypothesis is that some people are trying to question the performance of cinema authorities in the new era, as a result, by releasing these films in a completely illegal and organized manner, they are putting pressure on the directors that if these types of films are not allowed to be released by you in The virtual space is published and the words of the cinematographers are finally heard by the audience.
4-But there is an opinion about the two films “Leila Brothers” and “Subtraction” which seems logical and correct, and warnings were given in this regard by the creators of the works before, and that these two films, “Leila Brothers” and ” Fariq” had a contract with foreign broadcasters. As a result, at the same time as the film is released on foreign platforms, the film is also released domestically. It is also said about the movie “World War III” that the way it was distributed worldwide has caused damage and smuggling of the movie.
5- Regarding the movie “Dreamless”, we were told that most negligence caused the smuggling of the film, because the film was supposed to be released on the domestic platform and the contract was signed between the owners of the film and the platform. In this regard, we contacted Saeed Saeedi, the producer of the film, he said: I wonder where this high-quality version was released, as a producer, I can confidently say that I do not have this high-quality version, and the version that is in my office does not have this clear quality. Even the director does not have the film with this high quality. Of course, the foreign player has had this movie for three years, but the player’s version has subtitles.

6- There is another opinion that it is possible that some of these films were sold to Telegram channels or satellites by some film agents, because the evidence shows that satellites and Telegram channels make huge profits during the distribution and broadcast of the smuggled version of the films.

7- Another point has been raised about the release of the smuggled version of the films, which may be true, and that it is possible that some films have been released from the laboratory.
