I’m young, but they always make me old in roles!/ I wish I could work with Mir Bagheri – Mehr News Agency | Iran and world’s news

Hassan Esadi, an experienced actor of cinema and television, explained in a conversation with Mehr reporter about his latest activities: I am currently acting in 2 serials and a telefilm, for the latter of which we are in Gorgan and we are busy working. “Red Line”, “Dirty Money” and “For the Last Time” too Part of Three of my old works that I found out are being rebroadcasted on TV channels these days.
This actor said about his more prominent presence in television productions than in movies: I started my professional career with theater and after that I quickly worked in cinema as well. In the movie “Identity” by Ebrahim Hatamikia, Jalil Farjad and I played two main roles. Later I continued the same path. Currently, I have more or less activities in the cinema, where I have made films like “Masteneh” and “Mashkel Gitti” in recent years. In general, my main approach is television work.
He explained the reason for this approach: Cinema has its own components and maybe it was based on these components that I faced fewer offers in the cinema. When I have more offers from TV or home network, it’s natural that I don’t sit idle and accept offers and good works. It is important that the works are good works in terms of quantity and quality so that I can accept their presence.
I am obsessed with choosing roles
Esadi continued: Today, everyone is trying to make a movie. Many young people and even older people are trying to make films and many do not use the usual methods to attract capital to achieve this goal. For this reason, I personally spend a lot of time in choosing the suggestions I have and I try to have at least one dominant aspect that is valuable to me. It is the same in the cinema and if I have a good offer, I will definitely welcome it.
The actor also said about the rebroadcasting of his old series on TV: Many of these series have become nostalgia for the audience and that’s why they still like to watch them several times. Like the “Red Line” series, which I still see friends talking about in every corner. Some even take pictures of the show and send it to me. Some of the younger generation had not seen these works and they are the audience of these series for the first time.
He added: For some of the audience of these series, who may not have been born at the time of the original broadcast, the generational difference and age difference between us today and the roles we played then is very attractive. They ask how young you were then. Of course, I am still young! (Laughs) This charm is still there for the audience, and thankfully, I still see good feedback from the reruns of these series.
They ask why are you so old?
Esadi said about the reaction of the people in the street: A few days ago, I was invited to the private screening of the movie “Number 10”. A young couple came forward and asked, how old are you? They were shocked and said that we didn’t think you were so old. I asked, am I better today or when I was young? Maybe they wanted me not to break my heart when they said, you are better now! (laughs)
There was a plan in the series “Red Line” where I would arrest the character of Nasser played by Shahram Haqiddoost. When it was broadcast, I was at the place when my phone rang, my niece was crying a lot and said; Uncle, why did you take Nasser?!
The veteran actor said about his memories of his memorable series: I have a niece who was only three or four years old when the “Red Line” series aired. There was a plan in the series that I would arrest the character of Nasser, played by Shahram Hakitdoost. When it was broadcast, I was at the place when my phone rang, my niece was crying a lot and said; Uncle, why did you take Nasser?! He protested and said that I loved him very much and why did you arrest him?! No matter how much I explained, he would not calm down. (laughs)
He added: “There are many people in our society who are really lovable and may have been drawn to delinquency simply because of the circumstances.” It means they are wrong, but people love them. I had other feedbacks from this series, but this memory stayed with me for a long time. At the same time, I wondered why such a character was so popular among the audience.
This veteran actor about the most memorable He also explained his roles in the eyes of people: Different audiences remember me with different works. Some people remember the “Ghoribane” series more, and some remember the “Red Line” series. “Jaber Ben Hayyan” series was also a different historical experience in my career that I had a different make-up. I was one of the actors who was offered older roles at a young age and I used to age with makeup, but today my hair is gray and I am younger than the white hair I have had in some roles!
My appearance is misleading, they give a positive role!
He also said about the high number of positive roles in his portfolio: My appearance is wrong, and probably because of this, I am offered more such roles! (Laughs) Appearance and face are very influential in theatrical works. Of course, in these years, I have also played good gray roles, such as in the series “GandoI was playing the role of a spy. This series also by the way Part of It was my work that was seen very well.
In one of the places of pilgrimage, a man grabbed my hand from behind and said don’t come back! We went alone and he said come back now. I saw a man with high and spiritual qualities who told me without any preamble, “You should never play a negative role!”
Esadi added: “Everything is there” series too Part of It was my most popular work that is still rebroadcast from time to time. In this series, I also played the role of a factory manager, which was not entirely positive. I have also played these kinds of gray roles, but for my role in negative roles, makeup artists have to work harder and I have to work a little on my voice. Many people also emphasize that I should not play a negative role!
He continued: In one of the places of pilgrimage, a man grabbed my hand from behind and said, “Don’t come back!” We went alone and he said come back now. I saw a man with high and spiritual qualities who told me without any preamble, “You should never play a negative role!” I fit in! I said why? That becomes my weakness as an actor! He said, “Your positive roles will be destroyed in the minds of those who are living with your roles!” His position was that many people believed in you in the roles you played.
The actor explained about whether there was a role that he would have liked to play, but was not offered to him: Maybe there are different roles that I would like to play. During these years, of course, I have had various roles and it’s not like I’m really attached to a particular role that I’ve been waiting for. I like my work to flow like real life flow.
At the same time, he emphasized: One of the things I really like is being in one of Dawood Mirbaghri’s historical works. He is a precise and subtle director and I have really wanted to be part of one of his works over the years, but for whatever reason, it never happened until now.
