Implementation of the final stage of repairing the roof of Isfahan’s Chehelston porch

According to the Arya Heritage report, citing the public relations of the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of Isfahan Province, Asafah Badr announced this and said: Part of the ceiling decorations of Chehelston Palace porch in the late Qajar period and early Pahlavi period due to the lack of isolation of the main two-layer roof of the porch and also due to rain It was damaged by rain and humidity.

He continued: During the second Pahlavi era, by isolating the main roof of the porch building, moisture infiltration from the main roof to the double-clad part of the porch was ruled out, however, the hot water caused by moisture penetration in the past decades still remained on the main body of the porch roof decorations.

Badr added: Considering that a significant part of the roof of the porch and its decorations remained intact from the Safavid era until then, the restorers had not taken any steps to restore it in the last few decades.

The Director of Chehelston Garden Museum World Collection stated: In the beginning of the nineties, due to the occurrence of serious damage to the facade of the porch roof and the wear and tear and severe damage of the used wood and decorations, the restoration of the porch body, especially the two-layered part of the porch roof and the front decorations of the porch, began and was completed. The restoration of the front of the porch, the restoration of the decoration of the roof of the porch, started at the same time as the restoration of the two layers of the roof.

He emphasized: This operation has been started since 2015, including removing heat, removing stains and fixing the ceiling decorations, and out of a total of 18 frames and 3 facades of the porch, only 3 frames and 1 facade are left, and the contract for its restoration this year is with an experienced contractor. It has been concluded and we hope that the remaining sections will be completed by the end of this year.
