The manager of the Tavanir Company, which operates under the Ministry of Energy, said that the new laws proposed for the extraction of digital currencies in the country have increased the punishment for illegal extraction and the imprisonment of the offender.

Executor of power supply project of Ramzarz Tavanir centers said:
Misuse of subsidized electricity to extract cryptocurrencies reduces the quality of electricity and damages neighbors’ electrical appliances such as televisions, refrigerators, air conditioners, and so on.
Khodadadi added:
Also, due to the fact that the miners are on 24 hours a day and have a very high power consumption, this illegal action restricts the power supply to other subscribers during the hot and cold days of the year.
He continued:
For this reason, if a violation is discovered, first, all miners will be detained by the police. Second, the faulty common power supply is cut off. Third, heavy fines will be imposed on the offender, and eventually the offender’s case will be sent to the judiciary.
It is worth mentioning that the country’s Information Technology Center had published a draft bill in December 1400 to combat the illegal extraction of digital currencies, according to which the punishment for violating miners was to pay three to five times the electricity consumption.
