Iqbal Shakri, a member of the parliament’s construction commission, in an interview with the economic reporter of Fars news agency, pointed out that since the beginning of the revolution until now, one of the important slogans of our country has been “we can” and stated: Many big projects in the country are under the banner of this slogan. The fruit of sitting and returning to internal capacity and capabilities and improving the quality of manufactured products should be on the agenda.

He continued: The Supreme Leader has emphasized a lot that the sanctions will always be in place and the United States has no intention of failing in this regard. Because they are against the existence of our revolutionary and Islamic system, and therefore we cannot wait for an opening in the field of sanctions.

Shakri added: Therefore, the first thing we should do is to defend the people’s rights and to neutralize the sanctions as much as possible. The neutralization of sanctions will not be achieved except by trusting the internal power and using the country’s knowledge-based and elite capacities.

The member of the construction commission of the Majlis further said: We must introduce knowledge-based capacities in our country in all fields, especially in heavy industries. We have made good progress in small industries and services and non-industrial and non-heavy products. What we need to do now is to move towards progress in the field of large industries. The government should prepare the ground for this work and knowledge-based companies should also enter heavy fields such as oil, petrochemical, gas, agriculture, etc.

Shakri noted: So far, large projects have been implemented in our country relying on domestic capacities. For example, during the Corona era, we achieved good successes in the field of pharmaceuticals, this shows that if we have serious determination, we can have an acceptable growth industrially. In the field of oil and gas, good works have been done in the country and their achievements were displayed in the country’s oil and gas exhibition.

The member of the Parliament’s Construction Commission emphasized: For example, the fact that we were able to modernize their refinery equipment in different countries, including Venezuela, is a good and forward-looking event. We used to be heavily dependent on foreigners in the upstream and downstream areas of oil and gas, but now we have reached the point where we are establishing our own refinery and exporting technical and engineering services to other countries.

He further said: So far, large projects have been implemented in our country relying on domestic capacities, and we have had successful experiences in the field of first-time production. The production of catalysts and their export to Russia and the use of knowledge-based achievements in South Pars in order to increase production are examples of the knowledge-based nature of the country’s oil and gas industries, which should be further expanded.

Shakri stated: The oil industry has made acceptable use of first-time productions and knowledge-based achievements, and this trend should be considered as a model in other industries and we should reduce our dependence on foreign equipment as much as possible.
