Introducing the winners of the World Tourism Organization Student League

According to Aria Heritage, selected students from around the world have been selected for ideas that enhance tourism responsibility and sustainability. The UNWTO 2021 Global Student League Competition focuses on tackling plastic pollution as well as maximizing tourism participation in rural development.

This competition has been held with the participation of more than a thousand students. Of these, 155 teams representing 124 educational institutions in 45 different countries presented their ideas.

In addition to emphasizing the effectiveness of each participant’s ideas in helping to create a goal for sustainable development, the jury also evaluates the possibility of using these solutions and their level of teamwork.

The eight winning options included artwork, calls for action, Instagram campaigns and other digital marketing campaigns, and potential strategies to help destinations and resort providers reduce waste and plastic consumption. Many of the ideas presented to the competition have already been collected and implemented by stakeholders in the tourism sector.

Empowering young people for the future of tourism

The UNWTO Student Union strives to empower and motivate tourism students by providing real-time experience in creating and implementing innovative and sustainable solutions to the challenges facing the sector.

Finally, UNWTO Secretary-General Zurab Polulikashvili said, “Future tourism must be inclusive and sustainable, embracing local values. “The UNWTO Student League is a unique opportunity for students around the world to contribute to this change.”

This initiative creates a gap between the education and training of students and the facilities of this sector. It also allows young people to enter the job market professionally and with great skill.

The team of tourism students of Kurdistan University in the field of rural tourism development challenges in the World League of the Tourism Organization among more than a thousand teams from around the world succeeded in obtaining permission to participate in the final stage of rural tourism development solutions, but unfortunately did not make it to the winning teams. .
