Arslan Ghasemi said Wego With the economic reporter of Fars news agency, he said: due to the droughts and the existence of surplus livestock in the pastures, according to clause “S” of Note 6 of the budget law of 1401, the export of live and non-productive livestock has been announced free of charge, and the only condition in this note is Being unproductive is livestock.

He said: Today, due to the drought and lack of fodder and its high price, there are about 2 million head of light livestock ready for the market and 300 thousand head of heavy livestock ready for the market.

According to the head of the Agriculture and Food Industry Commission of the Chamber of Cooperation of Iran, while the Ministry of Agricultural Jihad says that the per capita consumption of red meat is 10 kg, but the statistics center says that this figure is less than 6 kg, and currently 9 provinces of the country are affected by drought and livestock are exposed to They are going to waste.

Ghasemi added: The increase in the cost of livestock production, such as a 57% increase in wages, 35% in transportation and about 5 times the price of inputs, has caused many livestock farmers to offer their non-productive livestock for sale. The best way is to allow the export of live livestock. which both generates income for the government and prevents the smuggling of livestock to the countries of the region.

He said that if the export of livestock is allowed, won’t there be a problem for the genetic reserves? He said: The law has said that non-productive livestock can be exported, so genetic reserves will not be a problem. On the other hand, currently, in some stores, sheep meat is sold instead of lamb meat, because the cattle breeder has to sell his cattle to the slaughterhouse due to the high cost of fodder and drought.

The head of the Agriculture and Food Industry Commission of the Iran Cooperative Chamber said: Last year, about 40,000 live livestock were exported, and some officials said that this export has increased the price of meat inside the country, while according to some statistics, 1 million live animals were exported in the same year. It was exported to neighboring countries in the form of smuggling, and when the news came that a barge carrying smuggled animals had sunk, everyone became aware of the issue of smuggling. Now our question is why official export is not allowed to maintain the balance of the market?

Ghasemi added: According to the law, the export duty for each head of sheep is 53,700 tomans, and the export duty for heavy livestock is 15,000 tomans per kilogram.

The head of the Agriculture and Food Industry Commission of the Iran Cooperative Chamber said: Due to the drought, fodder is scarce in the pastures. Currently, 30% of the light livestock is produced by the country’s nomads, and if the excess livestock is not removed from the pastures, the condition of the pastures will worsen next year.
