iOS 16 adoption rate; 72% of iPhones have been upgraded to the latest version of iOS

For the first time since the public release of iOS 16 and iPadOS 16 last year, Apple has provided statistics related to the update rate of these operating systems in its products. Published details show that iOS 16 adoption rate It has been more than iOS 15, but the situation is not so good for iPadOS 16.

Interruption in the release of iOS 16 adoption rate by Apple

By measuring the installation rate of iOS 16 and iPadOS 16 on iPhones and iPads that were active in the App Store until 25 Bahman (February 14), Apple has provided the public with the statistics related to the adoption rate of its operating systems. It is worth noting that iOS 16 is available for iPhone 8 and newer models, and iPadOS 16 is compatible with all iPad Pro models and Air, Mini, and regular models released since 2017.

According to the data placed on Apple websiteiOS 16 is installed on 72% of all active iPhones; While this value increases to 81% for models released in the last 4 years. Also, 20% of all iPhones still use iOS 15, and 8% of them remain on iOS 14 or older versions of this operating system.

The situation is completely different for iPads, and only 50% of all models have been upgraded to iPadOS 16. Also, this figure is not significantly different for iPads released in the last 4 years and has increased by 53%. iOS 15 is also ranked second among all iPads with an acceptance rate of 37%. 13% of Apple tablets still use iOS 14 or older versions.

iOS 16 adoption rate

We must mention that the statistics related to the adoption rate of iOS 15 were published in January of last year; While the details related to iOS 16 have been presented with a delay of one month compared to the previous year. This issue has made it impossible to directly compare figures; But considering the gap of one month, we can guess that iOS 16 will go through a relatively similar process compared to its predecessor.

The adoption rate of iOS 15 at the beginning of last year was 63% for all models and 72% for iPhones released four years before that. The same figures were 39% for all iPads and 57% for 2018 and later models. Probably one of the reasons for the higher adoption rate of iPadOS 15 compared to the new version is the introduction of the Stage Manager feature that allows users to manage multiple windows at the same time. Of course, many users have complained about the poor performance of this feature and its faulty user interface; But it seems that the improvements made in the last year have solved most of the problems.
