iPhone displays have a hidden QR code to control production costs

Apple from 2020, from very small and microscopic QR codes on phones Iphone used by himself, which probably no one knew about them until now. Apparently, these codes help the iPhone maker to control its production costs.

If you open up your iPhone, you’ll likely see a lot of QR codes on its internal components. These codes help Apple find more details about the origin of these components. Now the website information In a new report, it has been explained that even on the screen of iPhone phones, there are very small codes that are engraved on their glass in different stages of production.

According to the report, the Cupertino giant has implemented the system since 2020, which helps the company track and reduce defects in its production line. In the continuation of the report, it is said that these QR codes are the size of a grain of sand, and for this reason, they can only be seen with special equipment.

What does this code contribute to the iPhone manufacturing process?

But how exactly do these codes help Apple? In short, with the help of these codes, Apple knows exactly how many glass covers its Chinese suppliers, Lens Technology and Biel Crystal, have made and how many of them have been discarded as defective units. In some models, such as the iPhone 12, the QR code is placed right above the speaker in front of the device, while in the new models, this code is laser engraved on the black frame at the bottom edge of the screen.

Information also pointed out that developing this type of code has been very difficult for Apple. In fact, engraving them with the help of a laser on the glass weakens the display of the device. Because of this, in the device’s drop tests, glass cracks almost always occur where the QR code is placed. For this reason, Apple engineers have been forced to use new techniques using microscopic lenses.

Of course, the result of using these codes has been completely positive for Apple; Because since their introduction, out of every 10 pieces, only 1 unit has been thrown away, while this amount was 3 pieces in the past. As a result, these QR codes have helped Apple save hundreds of millions of dollars a year.
