iPhone users change their mobile phones later than Android users

According to a statistical report prepared by CIRP in September 2023, iPhone users use the same mobile phone model for a longer period of time compared to Android mobile phone owners. In fact, Apple phone users change their mobile phones later than Android users.

The competition between Android and iOS operating systems has always existed and users always compare them. This competition has made the sales of each of the devices related to the two platforms and the loyalty of users to the mobile phones of each of the two operating systems to be considered. Reports show that the sales of Android phones in the second quarter of 2023 were almost equal to the sales of iPhones in the same period in the United States.

Later replacement of iPhones than Android phones

According to CIRP, the way phones are used in the United States has made the sale of iPhones not surpass Android phones. CIRP says iPhone owners keep their phones longer than Android users, so iPhone owners tend to upgrade to a new iPhone later.

According to the CIRP report, only 10% of iPhone users go for a new iPhone model less than a year after purchasing the phone. This is while 23 percent of Android phone users buy a new phone in less than a year.

The report also shows that 61% of iOS users have been using their iPhone for more than two years. For comparison, this figure reaches 43% among Android users.

One of the reasons for switching Android phones earlier could be that they cost less on average than iPhones, so people are more willing to switch their phones. Another reason for this approach can be related to the fact that some Android companies unveil two different flagships in one year, while we do not see such an approach in the iPhone world.
