AFP quoted informed sources as saying that Tehran and Riyadh were reaching an agreement to reduce differences.

Over the past few weeks, officials from Iran and Saudi Arabia have reported that Tehran and Riyadh have been holding private talks in Baghdad since April to reach an agreement, Sputnik reports quoting AFP.

Foreign diplomat in Saudi Arabia, who is in talks, said that in the last round of talks, the two sides were about to reach an agreement to avoid tensions and proxy wars. [دیپلماتیک] Reduce in the area.

Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan announced that the fourth round of talks would be held in September and expressed hope that the talks would build the infrastructure for resolving the problems between the two countries.

Iranian Foreign Minister Amir Abdullahian had also stated that the talks were on the right track. “We have reached an agreement, but more talks are still needed,” he said.

According to the foreign diplomat, Iran and Saudi Arabia are likely to make the final changes to the agreement in the next round of talks, which may begin in a few days.

“They have generally agreed to reopen the consulates, and I think a declaration of normalization of relations will be issued in the coming weeks,” the diplomat, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told AFP.

Ali al-Shahabi, an adviser to the Saudi government, said Iran must take fundamental steps in Yemen before Riyadh could consider opening embassies.

“Iran must take real steps, not just talk well,” he told the AFP.
