Iran became a supervisory member of the Financial Information Council of the Commonwealth of Independent States


According to Fars news agency, citing Shada, in this meeting, representatives from the countries of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, India, the Secretariat and the Executive Committee of the Council of the Commonwealth of Nations, the Organization’s Office for Combating Crimes Founding and other serious crimes in the Commonwealth of Nations, the Eurasian Anti-Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Group (EAG) and several other regional organizations were present.

According to this report, the Council of Heads of Financial Intelligence Units of the Commonwealth of Nations (CHFIU) with the initiative of the Commonwealth of Independent States on December 15, 2012 (December 5, 2012) with the aim of establishing a coordinating body in the Commonwealth of Nations to ensure the organization and coordination of the fight against money laundering and the financing of terrorism (AML/CFT) was established. The aforementioned council submits its reports to the Council of Heads of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

This report adds that Khani, the head of the Financial Intelligence Center, informed about the submission of several reports on the actions of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the fight against money laundering and terrorist financing to the Eurasian Regional Group of the Fatf Financial Institution and stated that these presentations were welcomed by the member countries and others. The institutions present in the group have been placed as supervisors.

The main members of the Council of Heads of Financial Information Units of the Commonwealth of Independent States include the heads of the Financial Information Centers (FIU) of the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Republic of Kyrgyzstan, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as the countries of the Islamic Republic of Iran and India. are its supervisory members.
