Iran condemns terrorist attack in Lahore, Pakistan


According to Fars News Agency’s Foreign Policy Group, Saeed Khatibzadeh, spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, today (Thursday) condemned the terrorist attack in Lahore that killed and injured Pakistani citizens.

Expressing his condolences to the victims, their families and the friendly and brotherly government of Pakistan, the Foreign Ministry spokesman stressed: “Such terrorist acts once again highlight the need to fight terrorist groups in order to establish peace and tranquility in the region.”

Earlier, the ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Islamabad, Seyyed Mohammad Ali Hosseini, tweeted: “I was shocked by the bitter news of a bomb blast at a pomegranate commercial center in Lahore.”

He added: “While condemning this heinous terrorist act, I express my condolences to the families of the victims of this terrorist act, and I ask God Almighty to heal the injured as soon as possible.”

Two people were killed and at least 25 others were injured in a bomb blast at the Anar Keli shopping center in Lahore, the capital of Punjab province, this afternoon (Thursday).
